Kenbrell Thompkins is making people forget about the injured Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola. At least for now.
Thompkins has emerged today against the Buccaneers as the favorite red zone target of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. Thompkins has caught a five-yard touchdown pass and a 16-yard touchdown pass in the first half as the Patriots lead the Bucs 17-3.
Also playing well is receiver Aaron Dobson, who has four catches for 35 yards in the first half. As Dobson and Thompkins continue to develop a rapport with Brady, the Patriots’ passing game is only going to get better. And get better still when Gronk and Amendola return.
The Bucs’ passing game, however, is continuing to struggle. Josh Freeman had better get in gear in a hurry if the Bucs want to avoid falling to 0-3.
