The Patriots will reportedly extend the contract of one of their defensive starters.
According to Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com, the Patriots have reached a contract extension with starting left defensive end Rob Ninkovich that will run through the 2016 season.
Ninkovich, 29, has started 35 consecutive regular-season games for New England dating back to 2010. He has notched 14 tackles in the first two games of 2013.
An eighth-year pro from Purdue, Ninkovich has notched 237 tackles and 19.5 sacks in regular-season play.
