C.J. Spiller says he’s sore, but expects to play this week

The Bills offense couldn’t figure out much against the Jets defense with or without running back C.J. Spiller in the lineup on Sunday, but losing him certainly didn’t help matters in what turned into a 27-20 loss.

Spiller had gained just nine yards on 10 carries before left in the third quarter with what the team called a knee injury. Adam Schefter of ESPN.com reports that it was a thigh injury, but the important thing is that Spiller said he expects whichever part of his body is bothering him to be fine in time for the Week Four date with the Ravens.

“A little sore but shouldn’t be nothing that will keep me out this week,” Spiller said, via Tim Graham of the Buffalo News. “Should be feeling better day-by-day, but just taking it slow. It’s a little sore right now. ... As of right now, the plan is to see how it feels doing stuff, doing some treatment and doing everything necessary that I need to do to make sure that I’m ready. But come Wednesday or Thursday, ultimately the decision needs to be made -- more Thursday -- about if I’ll be able to go. But I think I should be good.”

The inability to get the run game going on Sunday led to a lot of obvious passing situations on third down and the Jets pass rush teed off on quarterback E.J. Manuel whenever that happened. Avoiding the same situations against Baltimore would be a step in the right direction.
