Chris Rainey works out for the Chiefs, runs in the low 4.3s

Chris Rainey AP

The Steelers drafted running back Chris Rainey in 2012.  After a couple of run-ins with the law, the Steelers cut him.

He has since been ignored by all other NFL teams.

On Monday, he wasn’t.  Per multiple league sources, the Chiefs worked out Rainey on Monday.  Though he ran the 40-yard dash in the low 4.3s, the Chiefs have decided that they currently don’t have a spot for him.

One source said that Rainey was timed on one stopwatch at 4.29 seconds.

Other teams now may consider kicking Rainey’s tires.  The only problem is that, because Rainey was accused of assaulting his girlfriend, some may be reluctant to take a chance on him, given the potential P.R. challenges.

At 4.3 seconds, it’s probably worth at least testing it out with a focus group.

Rainey and Demps in the same backfield at Florida. Those are some serious afterburners.

How did that team not win the SEC that year?

Let somebody’s RB go down next week and he’ll be getting a phone call based on the 40 time alone.

PR will just have to what they do….Smear the Truth!

Maybe RG3 will want to race him to show that his knee is 100% healed.

Just another Florida Gator doing what Gator FB players do best. Commit crimes!

    4.29 speed?

Grigson probably would have given TWO first rounders for this guy.

    Go COLTS!

He also scored in the low 4.3s on a Wonderlic test.

Was Tebow present during this assault?

KC has a fairly weak HB group behind Charles, wouldn’t be a bad move to give him a longer look. they drafted a guy in sanders commings with a similar background.

You do know Gators won the BCS championship with Demps and Rainey right? But nice try.

If they sign him will lose twice as bad as we did to Carolina. Anyone with eyes knows we can’t stop outside runs…especially with our JV linebacking squad.

Hey Ted Thompson – sounds like a new PR/KR now that Butterfingers Ross is gone.

Have we seen anyone in the high 4.3s???

With the issues that Pittsburgh has at RB, if they don’t want him, another team would be crazy to pick him up. That said, the Ravens now have only one healthy RB and he is a little banged up. Of course, since their tackles can’t run block, it probably doesn’t make any difference.

Odds are pretty good that five years from now he’ll be running 15 year old kids in his car, ala Lawrence Phillips, after losing to them in a pick-up football game.

    **running over**

Too bad Todd Haley didn’t make the trip with him.

get off this man guys. his “run ins” with the law were he said/she said bull crap. a woman gets angry with a man, calls the cops, man going to jail. the high and mighty steelers’ brass unfairly treated him like Lawrence Phillips. conversely, james Harrison, who knocked his woman around a time or 2, and obviously BBR, were treated differently.

If they sign him, ban him from all casino’s in KC right now.

  21. nananatman says: Sep 23, 2013 8:49 PM

Ravens will take him. They got guys defending strippers from other dudes over there.

  22. themagicfanguy says: Sep 23, 2013 9:50 PM

Green Bay should get him just to return kicks.

If the Packers can employ Eric Walden(last year) who was accused of the same thing then I think they can take a chance on this guy or maybe Joe McKnight who was arrested recently himself I believe.

Hell I wonder what Titus Young is up to these days?

He would still be on the Steelers had he only hit someone else illegally while playing football. But because he did it at home and not during the game like the team’s well known for, he got himself cut.

    Too bad…
