Last Wednesday, Colts owner Jim Irsay took to Twitter with a promise of a blockbuster deal that proved to be right on the mark when the Colts landed running back Trent Richardson in a trade with the Browns.
Irsay was talking roster moves on Twitter again Tuesday, but things are at a much lower pitch this time around. The Colts announced that they have signed defensive end Lawrence Guy and tackle Xavier Nixon, but have not announced the corresponding roster moves that will bring the team back down to 53 players.
Guy played nine games for the Colts in 2012, starting twice and making 18 tackles. The 2011 Packers seventh-round pick was signed off of Green Bay’s practice squad last season and was released in the final round of cuts in Indianapolis this summer. His arrival may mean that the groin injury suffered by Ricky Jean Francois against the 49ers is going to keep him out for a while.
Nixon was signed off of the Redskins practice squad. He signed with Washington as an undrafted free agent and was one of the team’s final cuts before winding up on the practice squad. The Colts dressed just seven offensive linemen on Sunday with center Samson Satele out.
UPDATE 3:22 p.m. ET: The Colts waived wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers and running back Kerwynn Williams.
