With a short week and injuries at the position, the 49ers made a move for cornerback depth.

According to Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee, the 49ers promoted Darryl Morris to the active roster.

The undrafted rookie could become necessary if Nnamdi Asomugha’s knee keeps him from playing Thursday against the Rams.

They also signed pass-rusher De’Aundre Reed to the practice squad. They need bodies there with the rehab absence of Aldon Smith.
