The Bengals were dealing with injuries heading into the fourth week of the season in 2012, so they decided to re-sign safety Chris Crocker after releasing him during the offseason.
Crocker wasn’t released by the Bengals this time as his contract expired, but history has otherwise repeated itself. The Bengals announced Wednesday that Crocker has returned to the team for a third tour of duty.
The Bengals played last week without cornerbacks Brandon Ghee and Dre Kirkpatrick and then lost Leon Hall to a hamstring injury late in the contest. Crocker has experience at slot corner with the Bengals in the past, so he could help fill in for Hall if the hamstring doesn’t heal in time for him to play against the Browns.
The Bengals released tackle Dennis Roland to clear space on the roster for Crocker.
