Bengals bring back Chris Crocker

The Bengals were dealing with injuries heading into the fourth week of the season in 2012, so they decided to re-sign safety Chris Crocker after releasing him during the offseason.

Crocker wasn’t released by the Bengals this time as his contract expired, but history has otherwise repeated itself. The Bengals announced Wednesday that Crocker has returned to the team for a third tour of duty.

The Bengals played last week without cornerbacks Brandon Ghee and Dre Kirkpatrick and then lost Leon Hall to a hamstring injury late in the contest. Crocker has experience at slot corner with the Bengals in the past, so he could help fill in for Hall if the hamstring doesn’t heal in time for him to play against the Browns.

The Bengals released tackle Dennis Roland to clear space on the roster for Crocker.

    May have to bring in another DB if Pacman gets suspended again.

    Good idea to bring back ole reliable Crocker. He can teach the young safeties the defense and make a solid contribution. Too bad we wiffed on the Dre Kirkpatrick pick, he can’t stay on the field and consistently gets Toasted on Sundays…SMH

    His mother Betty must be so proud! She probably baked a cake. I would love to get the recipe but I bet she’s totally booked. Insert random cookbook comment here.

    Dre Kirkpatrick has been a TOTAL disappointment. Add him to the bust list of our draft picks. Hope we get our others back soon. We have a great D, so hope Crocker can step up and in quickly!

    That laughter you hear in the background is the Steeler wideouts, and Heath.

    @crownofthehelmet

    Is that the 0 and 3 Steelers you speak of, who are at the bottom on the AFC North? cause the laughter I hear is the other 31 teams pointing at the Steelers…

    Er, to counter this move by The Bengals…
    …the browns have called back Jim Brown into service.

    @ vex24 , to counter this move, the Browns have traded their best offensive weapon and once again have hung their future on finding a quarterback in the upcoming draft. Speaking of which, here’s a update for ya all, the Browns go into the 2014 NFL Draft seeking a franchise QB. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
