Greg Hardy takes NFC defensive player of week award

Greg Hardy AP

Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy predicted he’d get 50 sacks this year.

For much of Sunday, it appeared he might.

Hardy was named NFC defensive player of the week after his three-sack outburst against the Giants.

He had plenty of company, as the Panthers registered seven sacks on the day.

Hardy now has 14.0 sacks in his last 15 games, an impressive pace for a guy looking for a new deal.

Sometimes it’s hard to tell if he’s just flat out hilarious and having fun, or if he’s just flat out scary insane. Either way, he’s fun to watch and may have helped start something really good for the Panthers.

justin houston just earned his second defensive player of the week and we’re only three weeks into the season. 4.5 sacks, 3 passes defensed, 1 forced fumble, and 2 fumble recoveries. pretty sure he deserves a headline, too.
