After Monday night’s victory over the Raiders, Broncos running back Ronnie Hillman told reporters that winning a round of rock, paper, scissors against the team’s other backs led him to get the ball for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
John Fox got wind of the story and used his Tuesday meeting with the media to refute Hillman’s story. According to Fox, the Broncos employed more traditional methods to decide on Hillman as the ball carrier on the one-yard touchdown plunge.
“That’s just stuff for people who like to get on TV and have something to talk about,” Fox said, via Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com. “I mean, Ronnie Hillman was going back in the game, that had nothing to do with that, it was just trying to have fun I guess. Ronnie was going in the ballgame. We decide that, that had nothing to do with it.”
Peyton Manning will continue to be allowed to play eeny meeny miny moe with the team’s receivers, however.
