Giants still missing Snee and Bass in practice

Eli Manning, David Baas AP

A Giants offensive line that could use a break appears to be forced to adjust.

According to Tom Rock of Newsday, the Giants were without both Chris Snee (hip) and David Baas (neck) in practice for the second straight day Thursday.

For a unit coming off a seven-sack embarrassment against the Panthers last week, that’s the last thing they need.

Veteran David Diehl (thumb) was practicing again, but it appears the Giants might have to shuffle their line to face the unbeaten Chiefs.

Then again, that might not be worst thing in the world.

Man I hope Poe gets 2 sacks, Tamba 2 sacks, Houston 3 sacks, DJ 2 sacks, and Berry 1. Is 10 too many to hope for?

snee should of been cut last year. baas is OK when he is actually fully healthy. this is probably a good thing.

    Chris Snee-nepotism at it’s finest.

Not to worry. Coach says it’s not a must win game.

Resign Locklear and move Pugh to guard. There are enough free agents better an injured Snee and baas. Don’t cut them but actually let them heal!

I was alarmed when I saw Chris Snee’s head (both the size and disfigurement).

Pugh is undersized as a tackle… no way you move him to guard against DTs and MLBs with no help.

There is every chance that Pugh will be moved inside next year, depending on who the giants draft and/or sign. The guy is 6-5 and 310. He’s already a very good tactician for a kid his age and he will also get a lot stronger. You don’t have to weigh 350 to play inside. He’s probably, RIGHT NOW, the best GUARD on the team.

Also, snee….who most definitely should be cut after this season…..was not too long ago one of the top guards in the league. Its not like he only got his job because he married the coach’s daughter…he was a darn good player before the injuries started getting to him.

@arwiv, the official team website lists Pugh as 6′ 4″ and 301 – the lightest O-lineman on the roster. The Giants went out and got beef for the DT position this year, and they’re going to have to get similar beef for the offensive line. With a passing-dominant league, the agile guard that pulls for a run block is less a need than the one who can block the middle and form a solid pocket. The Giants offense is performing poorly because the O-line is getting pushed around, it’s that simple. If Pugh wants to add about 25 pounds and build his leg strength for next season, then maybe he can take over for Snee… but he’s only been a tackle so far college and pro and the Giants may not have the patience to let him learn “on the job.”

Pugh has the talent play any position…there’s even been talk of him eventually moving to center. I agree that he needs to add bulk and power…but im also confident that he will do both. The interior line is obviously the problem; they are injured and getting old. Back to pugh: id like to see him stay at OT, but that depends on what o-lineman the giants sign/draft this off-season.

    Sucker bet. Giants will win.
