Jets do push-ups for penalties, even the owner

The Jets are taking their penalty problem seriously, and they’re taking it all the way to the top of the organization.

Worried about the ridiculousness of their penalty situation — after committing 20 in a win over the Bills — Jets coach Rex Ryan challenged every member of the organization to do 10 push-ups for every penalty in practice.

Since there were three flags in practice, everyone dropped and gave him 30, including owner Woody Johnson, team president Neil Glat and General Manager John Idzik.

“Obviously, we’re 32nd in the league, probably closer to 33rd, if that’s possible,” Ryan said, via Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com. “It’s just not us. It’s not who we are, so we’re trying to fix it. And we will fix it.”

The only exception to the push-up order is for the player who committed the penalty. He has to watch everyone else.

Including the guy who signs his checks, apparently.
