Ndamukong Suh ready for matchup with Kyle Long

At least part of the reason the Bears drafted guard Kyle Long in the first round was because of Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.

And this weekend, we get a chance to see how ready Long is to handle the assignment.

Suh smiled when asked about the emphasis their division rivals put on stopping him with Long.

We’ll see how well he is prepared to block me when we play on Sunday,” Suh said, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press. “That’s their opinion, that’s their choice, that’s their draft. That’s not anything of my concern. I just look forward to and digest whoever I have in front me.”

Digest? Suh’s done a lot of stuff, but the fine for cannibalism is going to be a big one.

When he’s not making charitable donations to the league, Suh’s playing well this year, with a number of plays that don’t reflect specifically on his stat sheet that have helped the Lions.

“I’ve said this before and I’ll always continue to say it, I can have no sacks, no statistics, as long as we’re winning games and I’m a part of it,” he said. “It’s fun for me to feed people plays. It’s exciting because even though it may not show up on the stat sheet, it’s showing up on somebody else’s stat sheet just not under my name, which is fine.

“I don’t need the glory of anything like that. I’m humble enough and excited enough and good enough with just the wins to be satisfied.”

We’ll find out this weekend if Long is able to keep him at bay, and fulfill the expectation they created on draft day.
