Report: Josh Freeman could be the Buccaneers’ third QB on Sunday

Freeman

One week after starting what could very well be his last game for the Buccaneers, Josh Freeman might not even be the club’s top backup on Sunday against Arizona, according to a published report.

According to Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, the Buccaneers may demote Freeman to the No. 3 quarterback role against the Cardinals. This would leave Dan Orlovsky as the backup to rookie Mike Glennon, who was promoted to the starting lineup on Wednesday.

Freeman told ESPN on Thursday night that he hoped to be traded. According to Stroud, the ESPN interview was “was not authorized by the team.” Freeman didn’t meet with the local media on Wednesday or Thursday after he was benched.

Freeman, 25, has started all but one of the games he has been active for in his NFL career.
