49ers’ Quinton Patton suffers broken foot

The 49ers had high hopes for rookie receiver Quinton Patton, but this season is not going according to plan.

Patton caught his first pass of the season on Thursday night against the Rams, but the 49ers have announced that Patton broke a metatarsal bone in his his foot on the play.

The good news is that Patton’s injury is not season-ending. Coach Jim Harbaugh said Patton will stay on the 53-man roster rather than go on injured reserve. The 49ers cannot use the injured reserve with return designation on Patton because they already used it on rookie linebacker Nick Moody, who is recovering from a broken right hand.

A fourth-round pick out of Louisiana Tech, Patton was dealing with a broken finger in training camp. When healthy he has shown promise, and he appeared to be moving up the 49ers’ depth chart and was getting his most extended playing time of the season on offense before leaving Thursday’s game.

I think Dee from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia could make the 9er roster at WR at this point.

Bring in the deaf wide receiver from the movie ‘The Replacements’ for a try out, at this rate it wouldn’t hurt.

It’s time that they make a move for a wr…

    Bring in whoever you want.

If the QB isn’t sharp enough to find them and spends more time reading twitter than studying film, it won’t matter.

Hello, is T.O. there? Yes, this is Jim Harbaugh calling. Tell him to please stop calling us. We’re going to start Jerry Rice.

There’s no need to bring in another receiver, Mario Manningham will be back soon and Crabtree will not be far behind. Boldin and Baldwin can hold down the fort for a month.

Too bad. You want to see this kid on the field just for his cool name if nothing else.

Every team in the league has injuries, man up Niners and work thru this. Every team is dealing with this, we just have to get daily reminders of yours. We are sick of hearing about your circus.

Even with that said, don’t be douchey and throw around bust when I guy doesn’t burst onto the scene; especially for the wr position, usually takes 2 or 3 seasons to find your stride. Doesn’t mean i won’t be back here then saying that a used condom is more productive than him, just putting things in perspective.:)

Yes! I love it when the FortyWhiners get hurt. Hopefully Anthony Davis breaks his neck next.

I have watched this guy play football since he was 6 years old. Not only is he a great football player, he is a really good person. Please stop hating on him. He has an injury- he will heal and play football. Didn’t SOMEBODY teach you that if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.
