Jaguars sign two receivers from practice squad

With injuries thinning their depth at wide receiver, the Jaguars looked to their practice squad for reinforcements, signing Jeremy Ebert and Tobais Palmer on Saturday, according to the NFL’s official transactions.

The Jaguars now have five receivers available for Sunday’s game vs. Jacksonville: first-stringers Cecil Shorts III and Ace Sanders and reserves Ebert, Palmer and Denard Robinson.

The Jaguars have ruled out receivers Mike Brown (back) and Stephen Burton (concussion) for Week Four, necessitating the addition of other options.

The 6-foot, 195-pound Ebert has been promoted to the roster from the practice squad on each of the last three Saturdays. The first-year pro from Northwestern has been active for each of the Jaguars’ last two games and caught a pass for five yards in Week Two.

Palmer (5-11, 178) is an undrafted rookie from North Carolina State. He was signed to the Jaguars’ practice squad on Sept. 1.

To make room on the 53-player roster for the new wide receivers, the Jaguars waived quarterback Ricky Stanzi and guard Jacques McClendon.

A wide receiver can’t make plays without a QB. They might as well bring back Aaron Rodgers’ brother Jordan.
