No Gronk, no Amendola for Patriots this week

Danny Amendola, Rob Gronkowski AP

The questions about the health of tight end Rob Gronkowski and his relationship with the Patriots will linger for at least another week.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, neither Gronkowski nor wide receiver Danny Amendola traveled to Atlanta with the team today, and won’t play Sunday night against the Falcons.

Not only will it add fuel to stories about some disparity between the Gronkowski camp and the Patriots regarding the handling of his injury, but it also puts the Patriots in the same spot of relying on inexperienced pass-catchers.

They’ve been able to get away with it so far, as they’re still 3-0 and atop the AFC East.

    This franchise is beyond pathetic.

I like when it said somewhere “Amendola confident he’ll be 100%…” which means back to being a China doll. That guy was hurt going all the back to the time he was with Dallas.

  5. xpensivewinos says: Sep 28, 2013 4:16 PM

Don’t you mean “tied atop the AFC East?”

  6. allday28mvpmvp says: Sep 28, 2013 4:17 PM

Not retaining Welker was the beginning of the end of the Brady-Bellicheck glory days. Its over Pats fans, throw in your towels

Atop…tied with the dolphins and one game ahead of the lowly jets.

Gotta hand it to ‘em though. Looking like crap and being 3-0 is way better than looking like crap and being 0-3 like my steelers.

Spy gate! This is a prime example of spy gate! It also PROVES Belichick is a product of the system and that Brady’s model wife isn’t really hot. Welker!?!?

  9. grpatriot says: Sep 28, 2013 4:24 PM

Guess how you get experience ? Take their reps and snaps in the game Gronk and Amendola don’t get somebody else does. It’ pay off later when it really counts!

Let them recover and be fully healthy for the bengals.

Pats fans are classic. Bet their 5’8″ bodies and brains still can’t comprehend why Hernandez isn’t there

  12. polegojim says: Sep 28, 2013 4:43 PM

Gronk has become a liability and good for about 1/3 of a season.

Ankle, Leg, Groin, Back… time to cut bait and move on for the Pats.

  13. bsizemore68 says: Sep 28, 2013 4:53 PM

I think that M comes before N, so when 2 teams are tied it should read Miami first and new England second, Miami 3-0…new England 3-0. Got it Darin. Bill A-Top the AFC East, get real.

  14. Smarterthanyou says: Sep 28, 2013 4:54 PM

They will win the leagues weakest division again, then promptly get beat down again at home, in the 1st round in a half empty stadium by half time again.
Then the Pats obnoxious fans will continue to insist ghat the season was a success, and that SpyGate never happened

  15. pastabelly101 says: Sep 28, 2013 4:57 PM

Pathetic trolls- Pats will be 4-0 after tomorrow and the trolls will whine on and on and on………..

-Haters when Welker was in Patriots:
He is an overrated slot receiver, 100 receptions and 1 yard per !!

    -Haters with Welker in Denver:
Patriots will suck, arrogants and Welker is better than Jerry Rice

  18. rushbacker says: Sep 28, 2013 5:03 PM

Yep, still 3-0. . . mostly due to playing a schedule that would make Ohio State blush.

  20. laxcoach37 says: Sep 28, 2013 5:06 PM

Um… Tied in the AFC East with the Dolphins and even then the Dolphins have scored more points and actually beat high quality playoff teams. The Pats barely beat bad teams. The Falcons are going to cruise past old man Brady.

Everyone and their brother has been predicting the demise of the Patriots for a very long time. One day it may happen if you keep predicting it every week, but it won’t be this year.

  25. therainmaker90 says: Sep 28, 2013 5:25 PM

It fun watching all the haters come up with excuses as to why the Pats are 3-0. Little do they know the Pats D looks as good as it was in 07 and is dominating this year. Sunday Night, Matt Ryan will know what he is in for.

  26. stinger22 says: Sep 28, 2013 5:33 PM

For all of the know-it-alls claiming that Miami is tied with NE for the divisioin lead, they are mistaken. Pats are 2-0 in the division, whereas Miami hasn’t played a game against any divisional opponent.

All you M comes before N idiots, the Pats have 2 wins in the division Miami has none.

  31. djstat says: Sep 28, 2013 5:37 PM

They have also had a soft schedule

  32. brohamma says: Sep 28, 2013 5:46 PM

The real funny thing with half of these trolls.. they would be psyched to have either BB or Brady on their team.

Once Dobson and Thompkins start clicking with Brady (which they started to show vs. Tampa) the scoring thing will change.

Oh yea.. first time in SIX YEARS that the Patriots have started 3-0. Mull that over trolls (and don’t forget to figure in Gronk, Vereen and starting two rook receivers).

  33. seatownballers says: Sep 28, 2013 5:50 PM

This team will never rival the redskins! Rg3 is a God! Httr! Respect the rings!

Oh, this is about the patriots? Oh, sorry, Wrong page.
Let me go back to my troll cave

  34. chrismgillis says: Sep 28, 2013 5:58 PM

@Smarterthanyou……really, get beat in the first round like always? are you for real? lets go back….last year they lost in the afc championship game, not the first round. the year before they lost in the super bowl, also not the first round. you should really think before you type such inaccurate statements. the most idiotic thing I’ve read in awhile.

  35. harrisonhits2 says: Sep 28, 2013 5:58 PM

The Pats haters must spend a lot of money on amphetamine solution to keep the chipmunks running on the treadmills in their skulls at full speed.

    Patriots win totals since 2001 : 11, 9, 14, 14, 10, 12, 16, 11, 10, 14, 13, 12

    Way to spot the trend

  39. fearthehoody says: Sep 28, 2013 9:19 PM

Ewwww, the hate is strong here! If I was not a Pats fan, Id hate a dominating, consistent, power-house, dynasty, too!

  40. razzzmajazzz says: Sep 28, 2013 9:19 PM

Is Danny Amendola made out of wet paper or something? That guy can injure himself in his sleep and I can’t remember the last time I saw Gronkowski on the field.

  41. TheWizard says: Sep 28, 2013 9:53 PM

Not retaining Welker was the beginning of the end

Edelman’s numbers are very good in the slot so far.

Go ahead an minimize him like you did Welker for 5 years.
