Brandon Flowers inactive for Chiefs

The Giants offense needs to get things in gear this week and they’ll be facing a defense missing one of its starting cornerbacks as it tries to do it on Sunday.

Brandon Flowers is inactive for the Chiefs because of a knee issue that’s caused soreness and inflammation in the last couple of weeks. Flowers was unable to finish last week’s victory over the Eagles and was listed as questionable for this week. Dunta Robinson is expected to start with Sean Smith.

The Chiefs will also be missing left guard Jeff Allen, sidelined by a groin injury, and tight end Anthony Fasano, who has both knee and ankle injuries. Geoff Schwartz will start in place of Allen while the Chiefs will go with Kevin Brock and Sean McGrath at tight end with Travis Kelce also out.

On the Giants’ side, they will have veteran offensive lineman David Diehl in the lineup despite the fact that he was listed as doubtful with a finger injury. That should help with guard Chris Snee and center David Baas out of action this week, although Diehl isn’t expected to take on a full workload in his return to the field.

The name “David Diehl” and the words “should help” should not be allowed in the same paragraph.
