The Texans have been smothering the Seahawks throughout the afternoon.

But the absence of one key player has allowed Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson to get something going.

The Texans announced that linebacker Brian Cushing had been taken to the locker room to be checked for a concussion.

As if on cue, the Seahawks began to show some life, attacking the middle of the field, with Wilson scrambling for a 25-yard gain that sparked them.

He followed that up a few plays later with a fourth-down conversion run, and Marshawn Lynch then added an easy touchdown run to cut the lead to 20-13. The 98-yard drive was the most evidence of a pulse they had shown all day, and the absence of Cushing isn’t coincidental.

UPDATE 3:42 p.m. ET: The Texans have announced Cushing will not return.
