Mike Glennon throws first touchdown pass of his NFL career

The Buccaneers couldn’t manage a touchdown last week with Josh Freeman at quarterback.

They’ve improved on that performance less than nine minutes into this week’s game against the Cardinals. Mike Glennon capped a short drive set up by a Rashard Mendenhall fumble by hitting Mike Williams with an eight-yard touchdown pass to open up the scoring in Tampa.

Glennon, who was named the starter on Wednesday when Josh Freeman was benched after three losses to open the season, hit Williams earlier on the drive for 14 yards to get the Bucs into the red zone. He’s 4-of-6 for 34 yards thus far and has been sacked once through two possessions.

Glennon was a third-round pick in April. Freeman is inactive for the Bucs on Sunday and has reportedly expressed his desire to leave the team.
