Both defenses were good, but we knew that already.

But the difference between the Seahawks and the Texans Sunday was the difference in poise between a second-year quarterback and a 10-year veteran.

Steven Hauschka’s 45-yard field goal in overtime gave the Seahawks a 23-20 overtime win over the Texans that will feel like a blowout loss in Houston.

Between quarterback Matt Schaub throwing a pick-six for the third consecutive game and Texans cornerback Kareem Jackson extending the game-winning drive with an unnecessary roughness penalty, there were plenty of goat horns to go around.

The Texans led 20-3 at halftime, and the combination of an offense going flat, and Texans linebacker Brian Cushing leaving with a concussion changed the complexion of the game.

But with the Texans forcing the ball into Schaub’s hands and away from a run game that had worked, the Seahawks chiseled away.

The Seahawks are now 4-0, and Russell Wilson made several drive-extending runs. While he’s still not a polished passer, he has shown himself to be timely.

Schaub’s showing the opposite right now.
