Antrel Rolle believes Giants can run the table

Giants Herzlich and Rolle go for a pass that bounced off of a Chiefs receiver during a NFL football game in Kansas City, Missouri Reuters

The Giants have lost their first four games by a combined 85 points, but one member of the team thinks that better days are right around the corner.

Safety Antrel Rolle has complained about the lack of energy among his teammates, but said Monday that he liked the fight he saw from the team in Sunday’s 31-7 loss to the Chiefs. And he also said that he believes the team is on the cusp of turning things around in a major way.

“I believe we can go 12-0 from this point on,” Rolle said, via Kieran Darcy of ESPNNewYork.com. “People can look at me like I’m crazy, but you know I could really give a damn at this point. This is what I truly believe. I know the talent of this team, I know the mindset of this team, we just have to go out there and put it all together.”

We won’t spend much time pointing out how unlikely it is that the Giants win all the games left on their schedule because you wouldn’t really expect a confident player to say anything different. The old adage of playing one game at a time does come to mind, though, especially because the Giants could find themselves a game out of first in the NFC East by beating the Eagles next week.

If the Cowboys lose to the Broncos, which seems like a reasonable outcome, they’ll be 2-3. The Redskins can’t be any better than 1-3 after next week’s bye, so the division hasn’t run away from the Giants while they’ve been steamrolled the last four weeks and it doesn’t look like any of these teams are going to be good enough to do it in the next few weeks either. If the Giants can find a pulse, they’re still alive in the big picture.

  5. jzone954 says: Sep 30, 2013 8:04 PM

It’s early enough in the season to do it…..that run has to start soon though or good bye

  6. bucrightoff says: Sep 30, 2013 8:05 PM

2010 NFC West redux. 7-9 will win this years NFC East. What a piece of crap division.

  7. blutbaddenbill says: Sep 30, 2013 8:07 PM

lol I hope he doesn’t ever try being a stand up comic spinning yarns like that! how many concussions has he had exactly?

  8. jakec4 says: Sep 30, 2013 8:08 PM

Can’t they get a better team spokesman? Rolle is always spouting off about something that incites idiocy or controversy.

Somebody’s been in the pill locker.

  10. britishraven says: Sep 30, 2013 8:10 PM

This man needs to be drug tested immediately

  11. tsaroffootball says: Sep 30, 2013 8:13 PM

So much for the enhanced concussion testing. Looks like one slipped through the cracks….

  12. lks311 says: Sep 30, 2013 8:13 PM

Not a Giants’ fan, but, maybe this is why they’ve added a couple of rings over the past 5 years.

I would love to have him on my team.

  13. GoHawks.info says: Sep 30, 2013 8:14 PM

Wow…perhaps we now know why the team is struggling. They got some funky PEDs going on in New York! Oh, wait-most people don’t realize that the Giants are now on top for PED use, do they?

Going 7-5 might be enough to get the Giants into the playoffs. Then we can see if their fans claim they don’t deserve to host or even play in a playoff game.

  14. toybkshr says: Sep 30, 2013 8:19 PM

He needs to be drug tested!

  16. Deb says: Sep 30, 2013 8:21 PM

I like Rolle’s attitude … but it’s hard to see how he can be so upbeat when Coughlin says play-calling is as random as throwing a dart at a board. Much respect for the Giants organization. Hope they can turn it around, but like my Steelers, they seem to be in quite a pickle.

  17. homerx says: Sep 30, 2013 8:21 PM

What happened to the NFC East? 8-8 probably takes the division.

  18. jimnaizeeum says: Sep 30, 2013 8:21 PM

As in 0-16, I don’t think they can…gotta be at least a couple of wins in there

  19. woodrree7 says: Sep 30, 2013 8:24 PM

AAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA—– SHUT UP!!!! Someone better check that guy for a concussion!!

  20. alewatcher says: Sep 30, 2013 8:25 PM

Antrel Rolle needs to be drug tested immediately, if not sooner.

  21. jackm79 says: Sep 30, 2013 8:34 PM

Should the Giants turn things around and steal the division, nobody should be surprised to see them win the Super Bowl. They could be the first 8-8 Super Bowl Champ. They already did it at 9-7. With the worst running game in the league. And the 26th overall defense.

    GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!

  22. ocgunslinger says: Sep 30, 2013 8:50 PM

Don’t count them out in this years East Division. And if they make the playoffs……well they did it before.

  23. homerx says: Sep 30, 2013 8:53 PM

After week 3 I was convinced the NFL had the Steelers and Giants getting off to poor starts on purpose with the end result being both teams making historic comebacks and meeting in the Super Bowl.

    Now I’m not so sure.

  24. cinfante54 says: Sep 30, 2013 9:04 PM

” The Redskins can’t be any better than 2-3 after next week,”

So there’s a chance they win on their bye week? Is logical behind this?

  25. eglsfan says: Sep 30, 2013 9:13 PM

Its official…Rolle is logicalvoices…….unless they are delusional sons from the same mother…Eags coming to add to your pain NYG…..

  26. papichulo55 says: Sep 30, 2013 9:17 PM

Yes Sir! Rolls always has that Swag! I expect him to lay out Cooper going across the Middle, and then tell McCoy to go check his boy. Brooklyn in Da House! Witness the return of The GMen…

  27. whatjusthapped says: Sep 30, 2013 9:22 PM

Might I suggest that they win their first game of the season just to prove that they are capable of winning in the NFL. That would seem to be a first step before any talk of running the table.

  28. fdugrad says: Sep 30, 2013 9:29 PM

    jakec4: AMEN bro, Amen.

  29. larrydavid7000 says: Sep 30, 2013 9:46 PM

I can not stand both teams but I want the egirls to win this week. 0-5 Midgets.

  30. mike913 says: Sep 30, 2013 9:54 PM

is beginning to wonder if antrel rolle and logicalvoices are the same person: their both delusional

  31. edithpiaf51 says: Sep 30, 2013 9:55 PM

Rolle like Peyton Manning should be tested for drugs.

  32. janvanflac says: Sep 30, 2013 10:00 PM

The Giants have looked every bit as bad as the Jags. Unlike the Eagles, who have been competitive in every game (except the second half at Denver) the Giants have just looked listless and slow.

  33. albanyjints says: Sep 30, 2013 10:01 PM

Last time they won it all, it was Rolle who kept insisting that they were going to the playoffs, and few believed him. When things are bleak, you need guys like Rolle. He IS a true leader.

  34. eaglesnd18 says: Sep 30, 2013 10:19 PM

You’re right @bucrightoff! We probably will have a team that is 7-9 that makes the playoffs and guess what? They will probably knock off the team that wins your division again!

  35. eaglesnd18 says: Sep 30, 2013 10:21 PM

I also think it’s funny that we’ve had the hardest division since the middle of the 90s and now that we have one struggle every team tries to take their shot at this division. Even NFC West teams are talking mad crap. Glad it took you this long to finally have decent teams.

  36. vikescry1 says: Sep 30, 2013 10:27 PM

i believe the giants can turn things around but running the table?? come on man!! you should spend more time in the gym and playbook than saying outlandish things like that.

  37. st0n3r78 says: Sep 30, 2013 10:48 PM

I REALLY wished I was able to afford the green hes smoking. Ive never had anything that had me that delirious and would love to try it. The giants will probably end about 7-9 or 9-7. NFC East is completely wide open as Dallas will implode before the end of the season.

  38. spedman24 says: Sep 30, 2013 11:15 PM

I believe Tampa & NY will be in the NFC championship.

  39. mtrhead269 says: Oct 1, 2013 12:15 AM

Run the table? SMH. They need to be able to run the ball for a first down.

  40. iceburgskin202 says: Oct 1, 2013 12:46 AM

What should he say I expect nothing else from a player and I’m not a giants fan!!

  41. sbaltimore says: Oct 1, 2013 1:06 AM

    In related news…

Giants Antrel Rolle has been placed on IR due to a season ending concussion.

  42. NJ49er says: Oct 1, 2013 5:18 AM

Never say Never in the NFL.

  43. bobbyinlondon says: Oct 1, 2013 5:54 AM

They have no offense, and Charles steamrolled all over them last week. What do you think McCoy and Vick will do them on the ground alone next week??? Not only that, but if Celek can hold on to the ball, he, Ertz, and Casey ought to find plenty of holes in the Ginats secondary who will be focusing all of their attention on Jackson.

  44. 7mantel says: Oct 1, 2013 8:01 AM

With the NFC East teams all looking horrible its possible the Giants can come out as the Best of The Worse!

  45. kev86 says: Oct 1, 2013 9:02 AM

I wont mock a guy with pride and a strong will to win. Beats a lazy loser in it for a paycheck only.
Good for you Rolle! GO GIANTS!

NFC East is up for grabs with 75% of season to go.

  46. pologroundsvet says: Oct 1, 2013 12:13 PM

Let’s win one game Sunday. We’ll worry about the rest of them after that.

  47. jpherling says: Oct 5, 2013 9:43 PM

Maybe we’d believe Rolle if we had an O-line that could block, if JPP and Tuck could play like they used to, and if we had LB’s who could play like they belong in the NFL.
