The Browns were awarded running back/kick returner Fozzy Whittaker on waivers from San Diego on Monday, the club said.

In a corresponding roster move, the Browns waived wide receiver Josh Cooper.

A first-year pro from Texas, Whittaker returned six kickoffs for 156 yards in three 2013 regular-season games for the Chargers. The Browns have used reserve wideout Greg Little and backup running back Bobby Rainey on kickoffs this season.

Whittaker’s addition gives the Browns three running backs. Willis McGahee is the starter, with Rainey and Whittaker in reserve.

With Cooper exiting, the Browns are currently carrying four receivers: Josh Gordon, Davone Bess, Travis Benjamin and Little.

In another roster move Monday, the Browns released running back Montario Hardesty off injured reserve. A fourth-year pro, Hardesty had preseason knee surgery.

Lucky for Fozzy Whittaker that his last name wasn’t Baer,Bear or Bare.

Josh Cooper only made the roster because he was a teammate of Weeden and had good chemistry with him. I think it’s safe to say that the Browns are going all-in with Hoyer (if that wasn’t already evident).

Wow releasing Hardesty is a bigger story than signing Whittaker IMO.

Ogbonnaya isn’t listed because he’s technically the FB.

Wow, Cooper really impressed me w his hands & routes. I’m thinking he gets picked up….

    This Fozzy guy? Why not?

    That’s “Hardesty” pronounced “Hurt-his-nee.”

We traded up two spots to pick him after the Bucaneers selected LaGarrette Blount. It was a knee-jerk reaction on the part of Heckert. No pun intended.

    Steeler fans… are 0-4. shhhhhhhhhhhh

Blount was an UFA originally signed by the Titans, cut, then picked up by the Buccaneers.

hey steeler fans – 2 more loses and you’ll match your SB rings……can you say 0-6

Now, Now leave the Steeler fans alone. They are just having a rough time adjusting to this 0-4 record of theirs. It also looks like one of them is in complete denial too. Coming in here thinking that they are still relevant and all.

OH did I mention they had their manhood handed to them by the Vikings. They let Peterson run for 140 yards on 23 caries. In comparison the Browns held Peterson to 88 yards on 26 caries. I can see where this could be a sore spot of contention for them. Not like I would throw that up their back side or anything like that.

But in the spirit of sportsmanship let me help them out a bit. Here are a couple things you can say to make yourself feel better. There is always next year OR this is a rebuilding year.

I wish my name was Fozzy Whitaker

Even if the Browns have a bad record this year, they should be given some sort of award for having the most awesome names in the league. Between Fozzy Whittaker, Barkevious Mingo, and Chris Obognyaald;ajdf(however the heck you spell it), you just can’t make those up.

Is it just me or did Mike Tomlin look like he was going to cry in his post-game conference? He needs a Snicker’s bar…he’s acting more like Lily Tomlin!

Fozzy isn’t great, but he can average 3 yards per carry if you give home the ball 10 times & he won’t cost a first round pick.
