Locker is expected to miss at least a few weeks

Locker AP

Not much is known about the right hip injury suffered Sunday by Titans quarterback Jake Locker.

He was carted off the field and taken to a hospital for an MRI.  But he then admitted and reportedly stayed overnight.

The situation has an odd feel.  We still don’t know what the specific injury is.  Coach Mike Munchak has said Locker doesn’t need emergency surgery, which could be interpreted as a hint that he needs non-emergency surgery.

It also is expected to keep Locker out for at least a few weeks.

That’s what offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains said after the 38-13 win, fueled once again by a defense that forced four turnovers and generated five sacks.  Cornerback Alterraun Verner had three takeaways himself, pushing his total for the season to six (four interceptions, two fumble recoveries).

Thus, even with Ryan Fitzpatrick replacing Locker for the immediate future, the Titans may have just enough punch on defense to keep rolling forward with that unlikely 3-1 record.

As long as he is back for when i make my drive down to Nashville, and watch Justin Smith, Willis, and Bowman knock him right back out. #goNINERS

problem is, they are facing a more talented defense, and a team that has a better QB, HB, WR group.

I mean really, they are headed to 3-2.

    KC 5-0.

Watched Fitz play for a couple of years as a Jets fan. He can get you over a hump but his arm strength allows defenses to stack the box. Accurate passer with enough wheels.

Hoping for a quick and healthy return for Locker who looked really good yesterday.

This is where Ryan Fitzpatrick flourishes, coming in to play after an injury. His ideal situation to prove once again that he is not just a journeyman. He did it in his first start with the Rams his rookie season, gave them a W. He has done it many times for the Bengals and the Bills. Now he will prove his worth to the Titans. I wish Buffalo would have kept him around as Manuel’s backup. He is a great player under extreme pressure, It is when he is out of duress that kills him. The Titans will be just fine with him under center while Locker heals.

Such ironic timing for this injury to happen. I’ve been watching NFL football since the late ’70s, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a young quarterback so clearly improve with every single game like he has been this season. And his best game yet was happening against the No. 3 defense (No. 7 pass defense) in the NFL. … This injury is such a bait’n’switch on the heart of a Titans fan.

Fitz was brutal as a starter in Buffalo but I believe this could e a perfect role for him. Step in for a few weeks and keep the team afloat. If you look at his last two years in Buffalo he played well enough to keep them afloat early on- including a 5- 2 start in 2011. He just couldn’t do it for a whole year. This is why the Titans signed him, so let’s see if he lives up to his backup role.

Fitzpatrick is the best lumberjack to ever play in the NFL.

Fitz is not accurate. That’s his problem. He throws some ridiculous INTs. Like a poor man’s Brett Favre. Locker has finally started looking like a franchise QB the last few weeks and then he gets hurt. Must suck for Titans fans.

    ……………………….
Dude did you ever watch a Bills game when Fitz was there? Him having wheels was literally his only positive physical attribute. He has poor arm strength and accuracy but he always could move.

@ctiggs: Jake Locker – who I briefly met on the UW campus back when he was playing QB for the Huskies here in Seattle – is one of the classiest, most humble & most dedicated young men I’ve ever known. He – unlike yourself – is class personified. The young man gets severely injured & hospitalized.. and, you think it’s appropriate and/or humorous to wish harm on him AGAIN?!

There are words for people like you, ctiggs… I won’t write them down here because everyone who read your comment has already thought them.

I hope you are driving from SF to watch my Titans smack your Fairy Niners in the mouth and send them back to their rainbow covered city with a knot on their head… Kap needs to worry about hitting some recievers instead of hitting up-rights and eating chicken wings with Joe Flacco…
Keep doubting us and you’ll be in the same boat with the Chargers..

Just in… Jake Locker will be making his return at the same time Aldon Smith gets out of rehab…
