Jets quarterback Geno Smith took it on the chin figuratively on Sunday against the Titans, but one member of the Jets who took it on the chin literally is now dealing with a concussion.

Rich Cimini of ESPNNewYork.com reports that wide receiver Stephen Hill is the recipient of that diagnosis after being the recipient of a big hit from Titans safety Michael Griffin. It came on the second play of the game when Smith underthrew Hill and was intercepted by cornerback Alterraun Verner.

Griffin’s helmet appeared to make contact with Hill’s helmet on the hit, which came at just about the same moment as Verner was making the interception. Because of that, it wouldn’t be particularly surprising to see Griffin get fined for the hit even though the officials did not throw a flag on the play.

Wide receiver Santonio Holmes injured his hamstring late in the 38-13 loss, which could leave the Jets thinner than a dime at wideout when they face the Falcons next Monday night. Jets coach Rex Ryan offered no update on Holmes’ condition or chances of playing on Monday so that answer will come later in the week, as will Hill’s attempts to progress through the league’s concussion protocol.
