C.J. Spiller practicing for Bills on Tuesday

Bills running back C.J. Spiller hurt his ankle in Sunday’s 23-20 victory over the Ravens and said Monday that he was unsure whether or not he’d be able to play on Thursday night against the Browns.

Spiller said he’d be good to go if he feels 80-85 percent come gameday, something that seems possible after he was able to practice on Tuesday. There hasn’t been an official participation report issued by the Bills yet, but Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News reports that Spiller looked “extremely limited” so there’s a good chance that a decision on his status will come right down to the wire.

The Bills also had Fred Jackson at practice Tuesday, two days after he injured his knee in the win over Baltimore. If Spiller can’t go, Jackson will be a vital part of the offense on Thursday night and there will also likely be a fair amount of work for Tashard Choice in that scenario.

Defensive backs Aaron Williams and Leodis McKelvin were also practicing for the Bills, giving hope that Buffalo’s secondary might have a few more regular pieces in the lineup than they had for much of Sunday.

If we can stay healthy, I believe we can have a top defense. Now the offense just needs to pick it up.

The way the Brown’s run defense has been playing, I wouldn’t be overly concerned with a “80-85%” Spiller.
