Rams release Max Starks to make room for Dunbar

Some players fall swiftly from starting jobs to competing for a starting job, to a job at all.

To make room for the official re-signing of linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, the Rams released veteran tackle Max Starks, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

The 31-year-old Starks started all 16 games for the Steelers last year, but looked shaky in losing a duel for the Chargers left tackle job to King Dunlap. That led to signing with the Rams as an injury replacement.

The move could also mean Rams starting right tackle Rodger Saffold is closer to returning from a knee injury as well.

    So, a revolving door is replaced with a turnstyle? I see.

    Where are all the Steelers fans who jump on other teams’ stories, professing the Royalty of their six rings? Carping on others for not possessing the Steelers’ way?

    Well, it’s beginning to come back to you in Spades. Headed back to the 60′s fellas. Back when you were the lowest franchise in the history of the NFL.

    Max, it is Coach T, please catch the next Southwest flight to Pittsburgh. We will be cutting Mike Adams asap for you to join us.

    If Saffold is the reason Max is out of a job, he best just wait by the phone. Roger makes Danny A. an ironman! Can u believe the spread on Rams/Jags? What would it be against Alabama?! Just kidding.

    Max, honey, come on back to Pittsburgh. I don’t know that we’ll be any better with you … but heaven knows, we won’t be any worse.

    Having been at the top so long a little bump is no big deal. But never having been at the top like us has really made you envious and bitter….it’s ok it gets better as you mature.

    The Steelers’ fans’ way is to leave any game they are losing by more than 7 points in the third quarter. The video evidence from this season is irrefutable. Jags fans hang around longer than these fairweather fatties.

    He played very well last year. I guess we will see how he performs without enhancements.

    He can’t make the Rams worse.

    Silly, silly boys and their silly, silly rants about Steelers fans. I use gallows humor to cope with everything from cancer to football losses. But I’m not going anywhere. Not if we finish 0-16. Not if we lose for the next 10 years. I love my Steelers and most of us have been stuck like glue to this team for a long, long time. You may be bandwagoners who quit on your teams when they struggle but don’t judge everyone else by yourselves. People may not stay in the stands and wallow in misery, but the Steelers will continue to sell out their games. That’s what matters.

    Deb you and I know that the Steelers suck.
    That is all

    I’m with Deb. The Steelers have taken a GIANT step backward this year. It’s the reality of drafting in the back quarter of the yearly talent pool for the last decade. That being said, I’ll watch the games with the same loyalty as ever and will still be here as we rise back up the ranks. It’s time to turn over most of the roster an hope we can fill the spots with a better level of talent needed to get Ben, Keisel, and Troy at least one more ring before they hang them up.

    I have faith in the leadership group in charge and LOVE THOSE STEELERS!

    GO STEELERS!

  16. tedmurph says: Oct 1, 2013 7:47 PM

    Why would the Steelers bring back an old retread they didn’t want? Let the young high draft picks play, take their lumps, find the right positions and see if any of them are fit to line up with Pouncey next yr. It’s not like they’re going anywhere anyway.

    We’ll take him. We’re starting other team’s practice squad cuts for c-sakes. Snee will be gone for the year and if I have to watch another 3rd and 18 shotgun draw I might start watching the other futbol

  18. Deb says: Oct 1, 2013 9:21 PM

    @tedmurph …

    Hard to know what we should do. I’ve never liked Gilbert and Adams seems completely lost. Max is old and tired but he played well in his day. Maybe the young guys will learn more by having someone around to teach them.

    @justintuckrule …

    Fortunately, I can fall back on a top-ranked college team. I’d opt for pro bowling before turning to futbol ;)

    Seahawks could use a tackle for a few weeks. McQuistan at left tackle was pretty sad.
