The Buccaneers waived safety Ahmad Black and released wide receiver Kevin Ogletree on Tuesday and it didn’t take Ogletree long to find a new home as he signed with the Lions on Wednesday.
Black’s going to have to wait a little longer, though. He went unclaimed on waivers Wednesday, which makes him a free agent able to sign with any team in the league. Black has had issues in coverage for the Bucs this season, but the 2011 fifth-rounder may have shown enough in other phases to merit a look at some point down the road.
The Buccaneers made a move to replace Black on the roster by claiming safety Kelcie McCray off of waivers from the Dolphins. McCray signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent before the 2012 season, but wound up on injured reserve and missed the entire year. He’s played in all four games this season, but was waived along with fullback Tyler Clutts this week.
Tampa is off this week, giving McCray a little extra time to acquaint himself with his new team before they attempt to pick up their first win of the season in Week Six.
