Patrick Peterson wins NFC defensive player of week

Patrick Peterson, Matt Shaughnessy, Tyrann Mathieu, Calais Campbell AP

Maybe if his offensive profile keeps expanding, Patrick Peterson can collect the whole set.

The Cardinals cornerback was named NFC defensive player of the week for his two-interception performance against the Buccaneers.

It was the first time he won the award, after collecting a pair of special teams player of the week honors as a rookie.

He joins teammate Calais Campbell, who won the special teams award in 2009, in double-dipping. But Campbell’s no threat to play offense, at least we don’t think so.

I have a feeling no matter how good Suh plays he will never get a POW award. Sad…

Congrats. You picked off a kid twice in his first NFL start.

Meanwhile, Richard Sherman was making a gamechanging play against a Super Bowl contender. That’s why he’s the #1 corner in the NFL and not some pretender whose scared to take on big WR **cough cough M. Crabtree**

    Still not in Sherman’s league.

    @ mrwalter & wilsonwillbreak

You’re absolutely right about no one being on Dick Sherman’s level ….

No one can down as many PEDs during halftime like he can.

Sherman is a great corner and he did have a gametying play last week… but until that pick he was getting OWNED. Dre had 116 yds, Schaub threw for 350+ and 2 TDs, and the offense put up half a thousand yards…

Yes, before you start squawking, I know he had a pick 6 that tyed the game, I know Schaub threw 2 picks (one was a complete fluke tipped ball). But Sherman was good for 1 play in that game.

    * or “tied” the game, which ever works better for you.

Yeah, Peterson’s INT’s weren’t game changing at all! The first one only led to the game-tying TD in the 4th Quarter and then the second one sealed the game.

    Not clutch at all!
