Colts dump Joe Lefeged

The Indianapolis Colts didn’t cut safety Joe Lefeged after an offseason weapons arrest.  They have now.

The Colts announced Thursday night that Lefeged has been waived.

The former Rutgers defender (hello, Tampa? . . . or New England?) has spent three seasons in Indy, appearing in 36 total regular-season games.  He played in all four games this season, with no starts.

Lefeged will be required to pass through waivers before becoming a free agent.

Colts must know something we don’t about him. He was too productive, especially on special teams, to just waive. 56 tackles, 2 ints, 2 fumble recoveries for Betheas backup is pretty good…especially considering that Bethea never comes out of the game or misses time for injury. His 20 special teams tackles don’t do him justice as his speed downfield causes more fair catches than he has opportunities to make tackles…evidenced by his captains patch. Can’t say that I understand this move by Grigs…especially with Landry out and Howell not practicing all week. Time will tell I guess.

Almost certain that he did something to breach team’s rules cause otherwise it doesn’t make sense as chefjayson said. Way too productive on ST.

He had that arrest in the offseason. I guess he was one strike away from being released by the team.
