The Browns may still add a quarterback, but it doesn’t appear they’re in the market for a deposed starter with recent experience.

According to Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, the Browns have crossed former Buccaneers starter Josh Freeman off the list of potential roster replacements for Brian Hoyer, who tore his ACL last night.

From a totally cynical perspective, Freeman has shown himself to be talented enough to jeopardize the draft position needed to draft a quarterback next year, which is a clearly stated plan of Browns management.

The Browns appeared well on their way to the top of the selection order before Hoyer took over, and now that they’re back in the hands of Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell, they could well get back there.
