Ravens cut Brandon Stokley, re-sign Billy Bajema

Buster Skrine, Brandon Stokley AP

Brandon Stokley’s second stint with the Ravens has come to an end.

Stokley, the veteran receiver who began his career with the Ravens in 1999 and returned to the team this season, has been released.

With Ravens receiver Jacoby Jones getting healthier, and with youngsters Deonte Thompson and Marlon Brown showing promise, there just wasn’t much room on the depth chart for Stokley, who had nine catches for 79 yards so far this season.

With the roster spot made available by cutting Stokley, the Ravens re-signed tight end Billy Bajema. He was released this week to make room on the 53-man roster for tackle Eugene Monroe.

If the Ravens are going to end up at 5 -11, where are the Steelers going to end up? They made Cassel look competent….

Hard to blame Stokely for his lack of production in a Ravens uniform. It’s clear Flacco mostly likes to throw the ball to players wearing the opponents jersey.

Folks, please, really….the author is clueless, but that is no excuse for the rest of us. Stokely will be resigned Monday morning. Nobody is going to sign him away before then. No, this isn’t because the other 3 WR’s are perhaps healthy. It is normal roster movement just before a game, especially because they had to add Monroe witbout releasing any other O-lineman.

Considering the receivers tipped passes to the defense as well as Flacco gets the most pressure in the league, I’d hardly blame him for Stokley’s underachieving play.

I guess I should add, he was not going to be playing this week anyway, because he has been injured. They got nothing to lose and they could use Bajema…maybe…a little.

LMAO @ “wearethesteelers”……real Steeler fans hate you.

Owen is still alive in Pittsburg, But I predict the Steelers won’t lose this week.

Not a smart move. The guy is the second best slot receiver in the league behind Wes.

Patriots are trying to corner the market on white wife receivers. Lol.maybe they have a white lighting package if they added. Stokely.

You are classy, ClassyJack. I’m embarrassed at times by my Ravens bloggers, but this Steeler guy and one Redskins fan are the worst! They love to mock others’ failures but probably couldn’t make their high school team.

Thanks for being realistic and having some consideration for a great wide receive whose age has finally caught up to him. And I’m sure he could even get called back if some younger WRs get hurt again.

    Cool move, Classy.

Yeah just what the Pats. need another slot receiver with groin problems. Btw if Danny makes it onto the field he won’t be 100%. He still has groin problems, and will have for the rest of the year.

holy bajema batman, this is getting ugly.

  24. lovefootball4life says: Oct 6, 2013 8:11 AM

Plays the same position as Deonte. In less than a full game (due to helmet to helmet hit) Deonte was 4 for 50 yards. In three games Brandon was 9 for 79 yards. Thanks for the help Brandon, great career. Stay healthy Deonte.

I’m glad to see Bajema in there instead of Clark or Dickson.
