Report: Bills to take a look at Pat White

Pat White AP

After being out of the league for two years, former second-round pick Pat White defied the odds by making the Redskins 53-man roster out of training camp, even if he didn’t last long.

Now, he’s getting another chance to come back.

According to Mike Jurecki of FOX Sports 910 in Phoenix, White is working out for the Bills today.

The Bills were said to be keeping all options open after the injury to starter E.J. Manuel, who could miss around six weeks with a sprained lateral collateral ligament.

Whether they’re bringing in other quarterbacks in for a look this weekend is unclear, but White showed enough this preseason with the Redskins to make someone take notice.

    LOL!

Alright, this is just getting weird now. This site’s obsession with this guy is creepy. It’s not like we get breathless reports on the whereabouts of Everette Brown and Clint Sintim, White’s fellow washouts. Nobody cares.

    Go Pat! Go!

Hopefully this is just an unfounded rumor. There are at least 5 better QB’s out there!

Glad to see Florio didn’t lose the WV bent when he hit the big time.

When is the the Major Harris retrospective on Football tonight?

Good signing, audition time for the other 31 till EJ gets healthy.

Look, I know the Bills are desperate, but THAT desperate?

White looked good in preseason. Very good.

White is very similar to EJ Manuel. Both have big arms, decent accuracy and are very light on the feet for their size. The one thing White lacks that Manuel has down pat is the playbook and the mentality needed to run it. Not that White can’t pick up the playbook, Its just not happening overnight.

Mikeyzipp – if the other guys you mentioned were quarterbacks trying out for a team who’s starter just went down you’d hear about them. And you can’t say nobody cares since you cared enough to open the article and to comment on it.

If they sign him ( which i hope not) i hope he does good.

You had me until right here. You realize if someone took this same picture of EJ that his head wouldn’t even be in the frame yet, right?

I hope PW makes it, and does well. Scouts, coaches and GMs screw up all the time. Maybe he just needs to find the right spot to succeed. For years, the NFL wouldn’t give Kurt Warner the time of day. We know all about the Ryan Leafs and JaMarcus Russells, but how many Kurt Warner’s never get enough opportunity because “they don’t look good in practice.”

must be affirmative action week in the nfl with him and braindead freeman in the news so much.

  15. xpensivewinos says: Oct 5, 2013 7:46 PM

They need a quarterback for 4 to 6 weeks and not have that culminate into a quarterback controversy.

I’d say the options are pretty limited under those circumstances.

OK, let’s try this. I bet Mike Florio is ecstatic over this news.

  17. kremis says: Oct 5, 2013 8:11 PM

    Tim tebow!

  18. pacodawg says: Oct 5, 2013 8:14 PM

Why? Tuel had an impressive game against the browns. He also had 4 wins in college in only 26 attempts. Really buffalo?

Pat White is a Bum! He has been with numerous Teams ans sat out for a year, all the GMs, Coaches can’ t be wrong. I can”t believe no J. Freeman talks are under way? Also, Tuel was not not terrible and can hold the fort down until EJ gets back. Not a Bills Fan, but just sayin this Team has the potential to compete if they can get healthy and fix a few weak spots.

“Affirmative Action week” because an article is written about a quarterback looking for a job who is being considered by a team that needs a quarterback? Because many articles are written about an NFL starting quarterback who is cut from his team? Because they’re both black?

I really hope you get to meet some people so you can grow up a little bit and get rid of some of that anger.

  21. steelerben says: Oct 5, 2013 9:12 PM

Might be a good move. They would be able to run some read option stuff that they have in the playbook and win a game or two while waiting on Manuel without having to worry about any controversy when EJ is back. White would be cheap, a non threat, and you could run him without worry of long term durability.

  22. hatesycophants says: Oct 5, 2013 9:13 PM

    Ahhhhhhhhhahahaha… the Bills are hilarious!

  23. ballboy48 says: Oct 5, 2013 9:42 PM

Bigger mistake B’lo made was, having only 2 QB’s on the 53 man roster, both were rookies, and one was undrafted. If I’m Buffalo, I’m drafting another QB next year, because I just don’t see it in Manuel, either.

  24. kwickett85 says: Oct 5, 2013 9:48 PM

White had a much improved preseason and I think he would be a good fit for the offense the Bills run.

So the coaches must be wrong about Josh Freeman then huh? The fact that you said Tuel was not terrible makes your comment even worse.
