The Patriots won’t have tight end Rob Gronkowski in the lineup on Sunday, but it looks like wide receiver Danny Amendola will make his return to the lineup.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Amendola is “good to go” for Sunday’s matchup with the Bengals. Amendola has missed the last three games with a groin injury that some feared would require sports hernia surgery to correct, but Amendola avoided the surgery and an even longer absence from the lineup.
It’s not clear if Amendola will be taking on a full workload in his first game back. The Patriots could limit his snaps in an effort to both limit the chance of aggravating the injury and bolster a passing game that has steadily improved over the last couple of weeks.
If Amendola is indeed in the lineup, it will put more pressure on a banged up Bengals secondary. Cornerbacks Leon Hall and Brandon Ghee are both doubtful to play and cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick is questionable because of a hamstring injury.
