A terrible season for the Jaguars may be getting worse.

Luke Joeckel, the left tackle Jacksonville chose with the second overall pick in this year’s NFL draft, suffered a right leg injury in the first quarter against the Rams and had to be carted off the field.

Days after trading away offensive tackle Eugene Monroe, losing Joeckel is something the Jaguars cannot afford.

And it got worse for Jacksonville after Joeckel went out when quarterback Blaine Gabbert, feeling blind side pressure when backup Cameron Bradfield replaced Joeckel, threw a terrible pass that was intercepted by Rams defensive back Matt Giordano and returned 82 yards for a touchdown.

The Jaguars and Rams are tied 7-7.

UPDATE 2:01 p.m. ET: The Jaguars have announced that Joeckel is out for the game.
