Report: Niners interested in Freeman

Well, it looks like the 49ers have another quarterback to “evaluate.”

A year after pursuing Peyton Manning but then insisting they merely “evaluated” him, the 49ers reportedly are interested in (i.e., evaluating) Josh Freeman, according to Michael Silver of NFL Network.

Per Silver, Freeman isn’t interested in the 49ers, because Freeman wants to play.

Of course, an opportunity to play could arise in San Francisco depending on what happens in tonight’s game involving the 49ers, where quarterback Colin Kaepernick will be chased around by defensive end J.J. Watt.

    Better than Kaepernick

Pairing a malcontent with a whiner is probably not the greatest idea.

I’m not sure it’s fair to call Freeman a malcontent. Based on everything I’ve read, that label is more appropriate for Schiano.

It seems like the 49ers are interested in anyone that has ever thrown a football.

For those who don’t have an innate sense of seeing a bigger picture; Kaepernick is in zero danger of losing his job. The signing of Skelton was due to a change in offensive philosophy which is why BJ Daniels became expendable. They would have preferred to have resigned Daniels for the PS, sign Skelton and demote McCoy to 3rd string but the ‘Hawks got him instead.

Harbaugh and Roman understand that the read-option will not be a core component of the offense going forward. For that reason they will look to sign bigger bodied QBs who can effectively throw the ball. Freeman would be smart to sign with the 49ers if just for the season to gain some sound QB coaching which he’s never had while in TB.

I’m not sure what else you call a guy who demands a trade/release for being benched. No matter what people wanna believe he was benched for his poor play, not cause Schiano hates him. I think 50 turnovers since 2011, second only the Mark Sanchez, sums it up well.

    Giants need a QB

Harbaugh would be great for Freeman, 6-6 240. Rocket arm and can run…

Why does Harbaugh need all these QBs? Why isn’t Colt and Kapernick enough. It is for most teams. I think they are seeing that Kaepernick may not be the stud they thought he was. Take away his running threat and he is very average. You can go no further than Alex Smith is proof anything could happen.

Rumor has it Harbaugh is trying to talk John Brodie out of retirement too…….

Quaterbacks = future value with grooming = future trade value = more younger, cheaper players via draft
