Cowboys cut Will Allen

After a rough game for the Cowboys’ secondary on Sunday, a change has come on Tuesday.

Veteran safety Will Allen was released today, the team announced.

Allen opened the season as the starter at strong safety, but after Week Two he was leapfrogged on the depth chart by rookie J.J. Wilcox.

A 10-year veteran, Allen played for the Steelers the last three years and for the Buccaneers for six years before that.

Monte told Garrett the pass defense hasn’t been very good lately, that Allen should be cut. Garrett wearing his headset, waited to hear from Callahan, heard nothing but silence, tried to call a timeout, no official around, took a HUGE gamble and went with it.

@pats4win: It certainly is a rarity that a player cut by the Steelers plays well elsewhere.

Wow, big move like things are going to get better for Dallas’ defense.

    DE’s and LB’s are small and DB’s can’t cover.

Well… at least Will Allen didn’t assassinate his team’s starting center.

And so confirms the idiocy behind this acquisition in the first place.

Two years go it was determined that the secondary was a huge hole for Dallas, and their answer at safety was keep Sensabaugh for a year before replacing him with Will Allen this year, and sign Barry Church.

Nice GMing Jerry. What a joke. With the talent existing in their linebacking core and the (healthy) half of their d line, and their 2 talented corners, it is a shame how far behind the rest of their defense still is.
