Colts sign Daniel Herron, Andy Studebaker

The Colts placed running back Ahmad Bradshaw on season-ending injured reserve on Tuesday and they also released fullback Robert Hughes, leaving themselves a bit thin in the backfield heading into Week Six.

On Wednesday, the team announced a move intended to fatten them up a bit. The Colts have signed running back Daniel Herron off of the Bengals practice squad.

Herron, who is known to some by his nickname Boom, was a sixth-round pick of the Bengals last year. He played in three games as a rookie, carrying the ball four times for five yards and blocking a punt during those appearances.

The Colts also announced that they have signed linebacker Andy Studebaker. Studebaker played 70 games for the Chiefs over the last five seasons and started eight times. He had 2.5 sacks and two interceptions over that period, although he saw most of his time on special teams.

Andy Studebaker was a stud for the Chiefs. He plays with a lot of heart. Good pickup for the Colts, even if he does just play special teams.

With the way Colts RB’s have been holding up, Herron might be more than a special teamer.

Damn “Boom” is a great player if the Bengals were not so deep at RB position he would have been on the roster for sure.

I wouldn’t be surprised (if given the carries/opportunity) that “boom” could/would supplant Richardson as the starter…..I am just not feeling Richardson…all the excuses, and etc….yet guy has played like 19 games and STILL a 3.1 ypc guy………players like that (especially running backs, don’t play 19 games and then all of a sudden “get it”) if you can give me ONE example of a guy playing a season and a half, as the main guy, and averaging 3 ypc, that all of a sudden morphs into a 4.5 ypc guy I would be shocked….It just doesn’t happen….Backs don’t need two years to “figure it out”……..He was a 3.5 ypc guy with Cleveland, with NO weapons, and he is a 3.1 ypc guy in Indy WITH weapons…he is what he is…..as Jim Brown said, (and this is actually being polite) he is an “ordinary talent”…..personally I think he is below average…I don’t care where he was selected in the draft………and I am a fanatical colts fan…..Richardson is not the answer.

Sound like a couple of Colts to me by the comments above and by name alone. Who wouldn’t want a good ol’ reliable Studebaker, and guy nicknamed “BOOM” not to mention his last name Herron he’s has to be dope.
