Julio Jones out for season

Julio Jones’s season has come to an end.

Jones, the Falcons receiver who is leading the NFL in catches, will have surgery next week, Chris Mortensen of ESPN first reported, and PFT has confirmed. The surgery’s recovery time will cause Jones to miss the rest of the year.

The loss of Jones is devastating for the Falcons, who are already one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL. At 1-4, the Falcons are already four games behind the Saints in the NFC South, and losing their best offensive playmaker virtually guarantees that the Falcons won’t be able to catch up.

Jones suffered the injury in Monday night’s loss to the Jets but played through it, even making a sensational one-handed catch for a 46-yard gain after he had already suffered the injury that would finish his 2013 season.

Now Jones will have surgery and focus on getting ready for 2014.

Call the Browns and get Josh Gordon. It will cost a #1 in next years draft.

Damn and White isnt looking too healthy either. 1-4 and losing your 2 best receivers? You are pretty much done. Get a 4th rounder for Gonzo.

Too bad for the Falcons, but they were way overrated last year and lucky to have the record they did and even luckier to beat the Seahawks in the playoffs.

Man we’re really cursed with injuries this year, I know teams deal with them but we’ve lost almost all off our best players to injuries. Well I’m a glass half full kind of person so even if the seasons lost we at least get a shot at clowney

  14. antalicus says: Oct 9, 2013 6:23 PM

At least Tony Gonzales will go out with some loaded stats this year. Who else does Matt Ryan have to throw to with Roddy gimped as well.

What exactly is Falcons WR Julio Jones’ injury? Anyone? No one says much about exactly what it is that is wrong with him?

This was well known on draft day. Why has no one mentioned Dimitroff mortgaged the future of the Falcons on Jones. Gave up way too much. Could not address needed holes in O&D lines, at LB and Secondary. He let Lofton walk. And INJURIES? Grimes was the only significant injury in years. That’s the law of averages. Oh so sign SJax and Osi. Did you see Osi keep contain on Geno on the last drive. SJax put up huge numbers too (in garbage time his whole career) The gurus knew Julio’s foot was a liability. Why is no one talking about Dimitroff? I’m sure Arthur is. The Falcons are toast and rebuilding with an average QB who got 100 mil. OOF.

  26. bamasleeper13 says: Oct 9, 2013 9:01 PM

Julio had a fracture in the same foot, put a screw in it after the combine. He apparently has refractured the area where the screw is. Amazing that he put up the numbers he did at the combine BEFORE it was fixed. Damn shame, he was leading the league in catches.

  27. raiderapologist says: Oct 9, 2013 9:37 PM

Who would have thought the Raiders would have more wins than the Falcons at this point in the season?

  28. dallashomer says: Oct 9, 2013 10:25 PM

Make an offer for Miles Austin. Please!!!

  29. beachsidejames says: Oct 9, 2013 10:40 PM
