The Panthers said goodbye to wide receiver Armanti Edwards on Tuesday, leaving open a spot in the receiving corps.

They filled it on Wednesday by signing Marvin McNutt off of the Dolphins’ practice squad. McNutt was a sixth-round pick by the Eagles last year, but wound up on their practice squad after failing to make the team out of camp. The Eagles waived him this spring and the Dolphins claimed him, but he wound up back on the practice squad after being squeezed out in a competition for the final rungs of the depth chart.

Carolina had another open roster spot after placing guard Amini Silatolu on injured reserve and they’ve filled that one by signing center Brian Folkerts off of their own practice squad. Folkerts started the year on the team’s active roster, but was waived and re-signed to the practice squad after two weeks.

The Panthers also announced that linebackers Ben Jacobs, who was elevated from the practice squad over the weekend and waived on Monday, and Jeff Tarpinian have been signed to the practice squad.
