Raiders sign Daniel Muir

Daniel Muir AP

Earlier on Tuesday, Florio reported on a list of players that the Raiders had in for workouts on Tuesday.

None of the players listed in that report earned a job with the team, but the Raiders announced that they have signed a player to their active roster. Defensive tackle Daniel Muir is the newest member of the club.

Muir signed with the Packers as an undrafted free agent in 2007 when Raiders General Manager Reggie McKenzie was in the Green Bay personnel department. He played three games with them before moving on to the Colts for the next four seasons. He played 40 games and made 26 starts in Indianapolis and played three games for the Jets last season. Muir spent training camp with the Texans, but was released as the team cut down to 53 players at the end of the summer.

Rookie Stacy McGee missed Week Five with a shoulder injury and Muir’s addition gives them some insurance in the event he remains out of the lineup.

Eh a decent addition at best. His best years stat-wise was with Indy. Hopefully he comes with that all or nothing playing mentality.

Reggie McKenzie has proven he is not afraid to admit his mistakes ala Matt Flynn by cutting his ass. You either perform or you don’t, it’s all or nothing with Big Reg and I like it.

    RAIDER NATION !

He has some games under his belt. Good veteran depth can’t hurt. Doubt he will be much more than that.

Looks like Big Ref can’t keep his nose out of Green Bays ass! This resume sounds like it’s on a decline if anything. I knew Ref would pull something like this! He is unpredictable and I’m still ?

No team is trying harder to get better that the Raiders-it’s a long tough project and they are working every angle.

I’d rather Reggie waste a pick on defense instead of bringing in David Carr. This guy was supposed to be great when he was drafted and turned out to be a dud. Oakland don’t need another Flynn.

This team should bring in VINCE YOUNG…..
He has shown everyone that he is NOT a cancer in the locker room and that he is a hard worker (e.g. Green Bay Packers)… Vince is a 6′-5″ mobile quarterback with talent and playoff experience…. He is hungry, motivated and determined to prove he can still play this game at a high level…. Vince is a LOW risk-HIGH reward type of guy… This would be a wise move for any GM/Coach looking to upgrade their qb pool….

Nevermind that Carr got sacked over 70 times in consecutive seasons. The poor guy probably still has ptsd from being on that texans team.
