Andre Johnson says he’s playing

Texans coach Gary Kubiak has been calling wide receiver Andre Johnson a game-time decision for Sunday’s game against the Rams, but the receiver doesn’t share the coach’s uncertainty about his status for the game.

Johnson practiced on Friday and declared himself good to go after the session. While there’s always a chance that he could have a setback with the shin he injured three weeks ago, Johnson said he’s feeling better than he’s felt since getting hurt.

“I went through practice, and I’m feeling fine,” Johnson said, via the Houston Chronicle. “After watching the [San Francisco] game last week, you could see I was dragging my leg when I was trying to run. Today, I went out there and practiced, and I felt like I got my range of motion back. It’s the best I’ve felt so far since I’ve had the injury. I’ll be out there.”

That’s a plus for Matt Schaub’s attempt to right the ship after a stretch of play that has put his starting job at risk. Johnson says he doesn’t have “a doubt in my mind” that Schaub will correct what’s gone wrong for him, something that’s much easier to get onboard with if Johnson is out there catching his passes.
