The Bengals were missing a few members of their defense in last Sunday’s victory over the Patriots, but things have taken a turn for the better this week.
“The sun is peeking through,” coach Marvin Lewis said, via the team’s website.
Defensive end Michael Johnson practiced in full on Friday for the first time since being diagnosed with the concussion that forced him to miss the New England game. He’s listed as questionable for this weekend, but would seem to be on track to play unless symptoms recur between now and Sunday. The Bengals defensive line was just fine last weekend without him, although that doesn’t make the news of his return any better for inexperienced Bills quarterback Thad Lewis.
Nor does the improvement shown by Bengals cornerback Leon Hall. Hall was out last week with a hamstring injury, but he practiced all this week and graduated to a full practice on Friday. He’s listed as questionable, but the progress in his practice output is a good sign for his chances of being on the field this weekend.
