Jets promote linebacker Troy Davis from practice squad

The Jets have signed rookie linebacker Troy Davis from their practice squad, the club said Saturday.

Davis (6-2, 251) notched five tackles in four preseason games for the Jets. The Jets waived him on August 31, then re-signed him to the practice squad the next day.

Davis, who played colleglately at South Florida, signed with New York as an undrafted free agent on May 9. As a senior, Davis notched 72 tackles and eight tackles and earned first-team all-Conference USA honors as a defensive lineman.

The Jets, who host Pittsburgh on Sunday, are at their 53-player roster limit.

The steelers are so bad that the Jets are going to play undrafted practice squad guys rather than put them on the same field as pittsburgh’s 1st round draft bust/knee buster david decastro.
