Carl Nicks not expected to play, Johnthan Banks cleared to go

One Buccaneers player with a MRSA infection is in, and one Buccaneers player with a MRSA infection is out.

Guard Carl Nicks, who missed the first two weeks of the season with a MRSA infection and then returned in Week Three, is expected to miss today’s game against the Eagles, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Last week it was revealed that cultures taken from Nicks’s foot showed that he still has a MRSA infection.

Rookie cornerback Johnthan Banks, however, who was found to have a MRSA infection last week, is good to go. The process of clearing Banks included an independent infectious disease expert saying that he does not believe there is any risk of Banks spreading his infection to other players. (But you could hardly blame any Eagles receivers if they try to push Banks off them in a pileup as quickly as possible.)

Officially, the Buccaneers are listing Nicks as questionable with a foot injury, and Banks as questionable with an illness.
