Foles leads Eagles to 31-20 win at Tampa

Mike Glennon wasn’t bad. But Nick Foles is nearly perfect in Tampa.

The Eagles quarterback overcame a sluggish start to finish on a high during a 31-20 win over the winless Buccaneers.

Foles threw for three touchdowns and ran for another to steal the show in a game between guys who began the season as backups. Coupled with his start there last December, Foles has thrown for 677 yards, with five touchdowns and no interceptions in Raymond James Stadium.

The Bucs stayed in the game until Foles’ 36-yard touchdown pass to DeSean Jackson (his second on the day) made the lead 11 early in the fourth quarter.

Glennon was solid, throwing a pair of touchdowns to Vincent Jackson, but it wasn’t enough in Foles’ house.

Dear Mike Vick: It is time you, and, as I suggested earlier, Mr. Schaub, Google ” Wally Pipp.”

The nice thing about having a very talented team and a likely high draft pick is the Bucs will be the most desired coaching vacancy this offseason.

Who was the guy that said the defense was worth paying to see after I said Schiano was so stupid he’d take Revis off Jackson and play zone?

Can the Bucs please now fire Schiano? Please!?!

Everyone will be talking about the “quarterback controversy”, but the real story here is that by milking the clock in fourth quarter (not doing that is part of what helped us lose to San Diego) Coach Kelly is learning from his past mistakes. I love Andy, but learning from mistakes is something he never did.

Nick Foles is going to be a great starting QB for the Eagles for many years to come.I’ve seen enough of Vick .They should trade Vick to Houston.

  6. richardmswartz says: Oct 13, 2013 4:27 PM

The Eagles only let up 3 points in the second half and their defense still looked pathetic.

  7. sgtr0c says: Oct 13, 2013 4:28 PM

D Jackson’s 4th quarter td made it an 8 point lead (28-20). The next drive, the Eagles got a feild goal to make it 11 points.

    Dear Mr. Glazer,

Please, give coach Schiano a ten year extension.

    Signed,

The rest of the teams in the NFC South.

Good that the Bucs lost, they’re right on track for the #1 pick which they’ll use on Bridgewater.

  10. jhorton83 says: Oct 13, 2013 4:41 PM

They should stay with Foles. He just makes less mistakes than Vick.

onebucplace I do enjoy watching Bucs D , hit hard and play hard. Banks clearly wasn’t focused with MRSA just days before . I never said I agreed with playing zone.

Schiano has destroyed the Bucs and should have been fired during the bye

  14. commonsensedude says: Oct 13, 2013 4:50 PM

What’s the bet on what week Schiano gets fired? I’ll take the slot for Week 8.

  15. ballreaper says: Oct 13, 2013 4:51 PM

That’s what a decent BACKUP QB job is suppose to be, coming in and NOT messing things up against a bad Bucs team who are WINLESS mind you.

Nick foles kind of remind me of frank wright of the buffalo bills, come in like a baseball reliever when call upon and not lose the game especially against terrible teams.
Lets face it if the bucs had anything resembling a REAL QB the eagles would be hard press to win this game.

  16. razzmatazzcomics says: Oct 13, 2013 4:51 PM

    How ’bout dem Eagles!!!

The Eagles play Dallas next week. With a win over the Cowboys, the Eagles will cement themselves as this year’s division winner with a final record of 7-9.

    Yaaaaaayyyy.

Schiano is not a nfl coach send back to college please.

  18. pftfan says: Oct 13, 2013 5:16 PM

Hell, Tampa could’ve paid me $16M to get beat by DeSean Jackson all day.

  19. eaglesnd18 says: Oct 13, 2013 5:16 PM

Stop! Just because Revis looked as if there should have been a safety there doesn’t mean there should have been. Revis is the new Asomugha, was once good, but only decent now. Jackson beat him, deal with it. Sorry your coach isn’t on the field playing.

dont forget Foles has 2 RUSHING TDs in those 2 tampa games as well

  22. stakex says: Oct 13, 2013 5:42 PM

Eagles fans who defend Vick either don’t like winning, or they do it for reasons other then his playing ability. The fact of the matter is he will never take the Eagles to the Super Bowl, and is not the future of this team.

Now I’m not sure Foles is either, but right now he looks better then Vick.

Up versus 2 WINLESS scrubs he is now
    Elite?….ha ha

  24. glazerh8er says: Oct 13, 2013 5:53 PM

I never thought I would think this, I think Schiano is in more over his head than Morris, which is almost impossible. The Bucs called a play on offense in this game that was so bad you can’t even call it in Maddon. Max protect with only two receivers both running go routes. The eagles had 4 men deep. The outcome was almost worse than the playcall, intentional grounding. I’m happy the offense we are based off of (the Giants) is showing to be so cutting edge and competitive this year, luckily there is a little Big East Rutgers sprinkled into the playbook. This team is worse than Raheem’s bad team because their is 250 million in new talent since then.

Hey we won people!!! Would you rather be in Houston?

  26. tenardjacksonsroachclip says: Oct 13, 2013 6:26 PM

This Bucs franchise is settling into Browns and Oakland territory of years past. The Freeman debacle, MRSA, Sgt. Schiano and his rag tag gang of undrafted free agents at WR. Its tragic for a Bucs fan right now

  27. shaggyjeff says: Oct 13, 2013 6:58 PM

Schiano said the bucs were a laughing stock before he got here…….wonder what we are now ?

Please fire this team destroyer now !

[The nice thing about having a very talented team and a likely high draft pick is the Bucs will be the most desired coaching vacancy this offseason.]

It’s never desirable to work for a Glazer. That’s why they can only get college coaches.

Check out Donald Penn’s comments after the game.

It’s easy to criticize Coach but Schiano’s got to be feeling the same way Penn does.

  34. zam1104 says: Oct 13, 2013 11:17 PM

Outcoached after a bye week, no touchdowns in a second half THIS YEAR, the Buccaneer coaching staff just doesn’t seem to know their craft.

They are generously about the 50th best coaching staff in the country, which isn’t too helpful when you are in a 32-team league.

  35. ohnoflorio says: Oct 14, 2013 12:08 AM

Anyone going to mention how Revis is getting torched sitting back in this zone while complaining the team struggled bc of the MRSA scare…Jets had a tough day – but damn, I’d rather be a jet than a buc

Trying to remember when the Iggles last won a Super Bowl. Or if they’ve ever won a Super Bowl. Anyone know?
