49ers’ Boone angry after Cardinals’ Ta’amu kicks him in the face

Alex Boone AP

As Cardinals defensive tackle Alameda Ta’amu got off the ground after tangling with San Francisco offensive lineman Alex Boone on Sunday, Ta’amu decided to stick his foot in Boone’s facemask. Boone was not happy about it.

Boone was enraged on the sideline afterward, and the cameras caught two separate incidents in which 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick were trying to calm Boone down.

Boone screamed, “He kicked me in the f–king face” as he tried to explain why he was so angry.

Ta’amu may try to claim that he was just trying to get up and his foot made incidental contact with Boone’s facemask, but it looked intentional, and the NFL will have something to say about it. Of course, Boone is far from innocent: He appeared to be taking a swipe at Ta’amu before the kick, and he got a personal foul for a tangle with Cardinals defensive back Tyrann Mathieu later in the game.

And although Boone doesn’t like getting kicked in the face, he is on the record as saying he thinks punching someone in the face is totally fine.

    A classless niner? No way!

  2. braceyourselffor12 says: Oct 14, 2013 11:16 AM

There was no excuse for that and the cheap shot Matheu laid on Kendall Hunter after his TD.

They were getting grinded down in the last quarter and let their emotions get the best of them, and its not like their Seattle so they can’t blame it on PEDs.

Also, Darnell Dockett continues to get off the ground by putting his forearm into other players throats. Does he think we don’t notice?

  4. kaeptovernon says: Oct 14, 2013 11:21 AM

Kicking a guy in the face mask while he’s on the ground is slightly different than squaring up and punching someone. I’m sure Mr. Boone would have no problem squaring up with that coward. More unbiased reporting form MDS just what we expect. I’m sure this comment will disappear too.

No where in the article was it suggested that Ta’amu is dirty/Cardinals are indiscipline/etc. Had this been a Lion, specifically Suh, it would be a bashing and speculation regarding suspension would ensue. Point is: This stuff happens every single week, in every single game, yet the media chooses to target players to write about who have big names and get readers to click, read, and respond.

Yeah but, the Lions suck and they are undisciplined and the coach can’t control his team.

Yeah that Ndamukong Suh is a real dirtball….wait…what? It wasn’t Suh? I thought the rest of the NFL was clean.

    Mind=Blown.

  12. Foghorn The IKonoclast says: Oct 14, 2013 11:43 AM

If there is a takeaway point in all this, is that what are we doing? We are so focused on solutions that we miss the forest for the trees. In this case it is plainly clear that we are most of the time reactive, but the guy who kicked him should be suspended and fined just as heavily. The bigger consequence would be a suspension.

  13. ninjapleazee says: Oct 14, 2013 11:44 AM

Did he attend Suh’s team meeting?

  14. madmediaman says: Oct 14, 2013 11:45 AM

Why did my comment disappear? I simply noted that Ta’amu’s kick was a direct response to Boone taking a punch at him. All I did was point out that you failed to mention that in your report, suggesting that Boone was some sort of victim.

I bet beast mode thinks Richard Sherman is Mr. belvedere when it comes to showing class get over yourselves hawk fans Russell Wilson is the definition of class but other than that your team is just as classless as the other 31 teams

  17. truths4all says: Oct 14, 2013 11:56 AM

Why are the Niners the Whiners this season?

Because other teams have beat them, and beat them like they are little snare drums.

That is why they are now known as the Whiners. And aptly deserved by their cry-baby acts.

Life is terrible when you have lost lop-sided games, so what do the Niners do? They Whine!!!

BTW, no one cares!!! Whine away, Whiners. Whine away!!!

You ought to go back and reread the article. The 49er was the one who got kicked in the face. Unless somehow getting kicked in the face is somehow considered classless up in PED-land.

A classless Seahawks fan? Of course.

  21. braceyourselffor12 says: Oct 14, 2013 12:14 PM

    @ truths4all

First of all, the term Whiner was coined and used by Raider fans. Who had begun winning Super Bowls even before us, and then began hurling it at us when the Niners started their dynasty run.

Since you’re a Seahack troll I don’t expect you to know that or much of anything related to football since you started watching the sport starting last November.

P.S. Sorry the Chief fans broke the only record Seattle EVER had. Lol

  22. jeffchadwick says: Oct 14, 2013 12:17 PM

Since it wasn’t Ndamukong Suh doing the kicking, I’d guess Mr. Ta’amu will be eligible to suit up next week for the Cardinals.

  23. theauger says: Oct 14, 2013 12:20 PM

You should have mentioned that Boone first punched Ta’amu in the face as Ta’amu was getting up. Then received a boot to the face mask as compensation for the punch.

The ref was standing right there & only flagged Booned for this scuffle.

There are GIFs of the play floating around.

  24. thebirdofprey2 says: Oct 14, 2013 12:22 PM

Alex Boone tried to punch him and now he cries about the retaliation. This guy is the biggest loser on a team filled with them.

  25. whoisgregtoler says: Oct 14, 2013 12:26 PM

Maybe he was just trying to fix Boones hair lip.

  26. Johnny Chingas says: Oct 14, 2013 12:26 PM

She-Hawks fans are the saddest bunch…they have no Lombardy trophies, they have one true Hall of Famer who gave his number up for the greatest WR of All Time and their only joy comes from being able to say they won two of three games over the last two years….That doesn’t win championships nor will it get you to the Super Bowl. The Niners win when it counts most, something the Steelers proved Seattle can’t do.

  27. dennisatunity says: Oct 14, 2013 12:28 PM

I think it’s fascinating that the 49ers can take an article about the Cards and the 49ers and turn it into something to put the ‘Hawks down. I knew you guys were worried about the ‘Hawks but I never realized just how much until I saw the comments on this article.

  28. bigdaddyrockytop says: Oct 14, 2013 12:30 PM

Wasnt Boone the one who said he wanted to punch Matthews in the face? Funny how the wanna be tough guys can dish it out but dont like to take it back.

  29. theallegedone says: Oct 14, 2013 12:35 PM

Is this the same douche bag (Boone) that took a cheap shot at Kevin Williams of the Vikings? Good Boone. KARMA. I hope those clear marks hurt. But at least you won’t miss any time like Williams had to.

  33. sweetnlow44 says: Oct 14, 2013 1:13 PM

It’s interesting that braceyourselffor12 is so obsessed with the Seahawks that he takes an article about the 9ers and Cards as an opportunity to try and bash and belittle the Seahawks. Get over your inferiority complex, man.

Oh, and to all the other 9er fans… Congrats on your super bowl victories 2 and 3 decades ago. That definitely means that fans of other teams who haven’t won a superbowl are clearly inferior to you in every way. Because you as a fan obviously had a lot to do with those wins, so it totally makes sense for you to say things like “what do you know, your team hasn’t won anything yet!” or “Win a game that means something before you talk.” You 49er fans really are brilliant.

  34. cakesw says: Oct 14, 2013 1:29 PM

Boone instigated it… and got kicked in the face for it.

    Go cry somewhere else…

49′ers are trying to keep their “bad boy” image alive… but this is no longer a dominant team.

  35. ninerfanactic says: Oct 14, 2013 1:36 PM

Its funny how sorry sea hawks fan keep commenting on niners news I know you all are jealous and envious but really you just are looking desperate lol but don’t worry you still will lose to the niners come playoffs

  36. beastmode5150 says: Oct 14, 2013 1:58 PM

Ok, I’ll take it back, Boone is a very classy player, it’s proven. He’s also a whiney brat like his fake tough guy coach. First part sarcasm, second part truth. Please don’t stab me at skinny jeans field when I visit.

  37. Go-Hawks! says: Oct 14, 2013 2:50 PM

Dear 49ers fans, you love to mention that Seattle doesn’t have any Lombardi’s. That’s right we don’t. We are well aware of that.

But you haven’t won any in almost 20 years. Yes, we are all aware that the 49ers have been one of the best NFL franchises ever. But you haven’t done anything for 20 years. And, Yes, neither have the Seahawks.

History is one thing, and you have the Hawks beat when it comes to Lombardis. But this is the NFL. And in this league it is “What have you done lately?”.

With the current team, how many trophies do you have? Just as many as we do. Zero.

  38. mackcarrington says: Oct 14, 2013 3:34 PM

What do you expect from a Harbaugh led team? The whining about what the refs will do in their next game starts the moment their last game ends. That whining about the refs and the other team continues all week until the next game begins, combined with further whining about their previous opponent.

No loss is ever their own fault, they bear responsibility only when they win.

  42. hendeeze says: Oct 14, 2013 4:52 PM

LOL Alex Boone punched Taamu? While lying on his side trying to get up? Interesting what is deemed a “punch” by Cardinal fans. Because it’s definitely clear there was an intentional kick.

  43. adderal says: Oct 14, 2013 7:28 PM

He’s a guard, supposed to be nasty. Wouldn’t be in the league if he wasn’t a little dirty.

  44. ivanpavlov0000 says: Oct 15, 2013 1:11 AM

If this had been Suh, this story would have called for a suspension for the rest of the season, and perhaps a ban for life. Since it wasn’t … eh, no big deal. Right?
