Pete Carroll says Harvin “is getting very close”

The Seahawks’ biggest offensive concern right now is an injury-riddled offensive line that isn’t doing a great job of protecting Russell Wilson.

The return of wide receiver Percy Harvin from hip surgery wouldn’t do much to shore up that area, but it should have a positive impact on the offense all the same. Harvin is eligible to come off the PUP list when Week Six is officially in the books and coach Pete Carroll said Monday that Harvin doesn’t appear to be too far off from making it back to practice.

Carroll said on ESPN 710, via the Seattle Times, that Harvin ran well last week in his return to Seattle after rehabbing in New York. With a short week before Thursday’s game against the Cardinals, it’s unclear if Harvin will practice this week but Carroll said it’s “getting very close” and that Harvin’s “not too far off now.”

On Football Night in America on Sunday night, Mike Florio reported that the Seahawks won’t hold Harvin back for the tail end of the season. Once he’s deemed ready to play, the Seahawks are expected to put him on the field. Based on what Carroll said Monday, that may not be too long a wait.

I beg to differ on the Percy Harvin not protecting Wilson. Defenses will not blitz as often because they have to account for Percy Harvin because he can break it to the house even on a 5 yard pass.

Another Harvin person this is going to help is Lynch who is facing a loaded box nearly every time. Its not even about lining him up outside because no matter where he is the safety will be rolling his way.

scmems07 – fans need to football knowledge because clearly their trash talk is equal to logicalvoices.

Just like he helped AP? Because Peterson started his climb to 2000 last year after Harvin got hurt.

Unless Seattle is planning to use him differently than the Vikings did he is going to hurt Lynch not help him. You defend the running game the same way you defend Harvin, crowd the box or line of scrimmage. It’s the whole two birds with one stone theory.

Has anyone been over to the Chiefs page? They’re quaking big over beating our noise record….. by one db using over 10,000 more fans. I’ve been a fan since 1976 and a season ticket holder since 2004. The King Dome was loud because the fans were smart and the trend continues in our new stadium. One Chiefs fan was quoted as saying ” It’s 120-130 db here all the time.” It’s that loud here, but only when the defense is on the field- what a tool.
Also it’s unbelievable that there are still people out the that think our stadium noise has “pumped in” sound. I’m shocked that there are that many stupid people around here.

too easy, seahawk fans getting their feelings hurt when someone talks bad about their precious team yet thousand of seahawks fans troll other teams articles to talk trash all too often. i love seattle fans!!!

    seattle fans=sensitive

Feelings hurt? Haha, try again. The fact that you come to a Seahawk article to troll makes Seahawk fans feel good. It proves the teams’ legitimacy. Keep trolling.

Hey hawk haters, yeah, you’re right, Carroll and Schneider, they don’t know crap about football, it’s you guys who really know what you are talking about. Yep, harvin isn’t going to help the hawks at all…

  16. jayovalentine says: Oct 14, 2013 5:41 PM

Harvin isn’t even the playmaker that Golden Tate is. Hawks overpaid for him when they could have traded the same pick for Victor Cruz.

Mine as well play him while play him while you can before he gets hurt, gets his feelings hurt or gets busted for smoking weed (Gator times).

I assume by your poor sentence structure that you, yourself, may indeed be the one smoking weed, my friend. I also assume by your username that you are a Cardinals fan. What happened without Percy Harvin the last time Seattle and Arizona played? Care to comment on that one? And those weren’t “Gator times”…those were 58-0 times.

The Seahawks have played and beaten the 1st, 3rd, 9th, 11th and 21st ranked defenses. The Colts are ranked 10th and the Cards are ranked 15

To the Viking fan. How is Christan Ponder doing this year? That’s right your team picked up Josh Freeman off the street and is 1-4. I think he had the one of the lowest average yard a pass ( 6.8 yards per pass). That was even after Percy Harvin went down with injury. The QB is the reason teams could load the box with no worry.

Bevell used him before and said he would use him Y, X and Z. Any of you ever watched where Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate line up? They are not used as just slot receivers.

That one fan says Hawk fans are sensitive, gets smacked around in football talk and looks foolish.

  21. taintedsaints2009 says: Oct 14, 2013 8:28 PM

The Vikings, my Vikings, chose Christian ponder over Percy Harvin. Percy Harvin, a guy Adrian Peterson himself said is the best all around football player he has seen.

They chose a nice guy, ponder, over a guy that may be a head case once in a while, but there was a reason for it…Ponder sucked and Harvin didn’t want to out up with it.

Harvin was never a problem when Favre was here. Why? Favre could get him the ball.

I hate being a Vikings fan.

  22. pacificnw7722 says: Oct 14, 2013 9:01 PM

Huge hawk fan here, I would really like Bevell to to run more 4 WR sets when Harvin comes back.

Harvin, Tate, Kearse and Rice….you can’t cover all of them someone will be open. And get RB Christine Michael catching passes out of the backfield!

  23. Matt B says: Oct 14, 2013 10:14 PM

Remove “Rice” for Baldwin and you’re on to things. Run triple options with Percy and it’s even better.
