Browns won’t be adding Tebow

AP

The clocks are the Factory of Gladness won’t be set for Tebow time any time soon.  Or ever.

Rumors of a Tebow sighting at the Cleveland airport have sparked rumors of the Browns signing Tebow.  They aren’t.

A league source tells PFT that the Browns won’t be adding Tebow to a quarterback depth chart that is currently short on quarterback talent.

While Browns G.M. Mike Lombardi praised Tebow during the height of Tebowmania, Lombardi said in May that Tebow doesn’t fit the current vision for the franchise.

Even with Brandon Weeden struggling and Jason Campbell not showing enough to leapfrog the 2012 first-round pick, Tebow will continue to be unemployed by the Browns, and any other NFL team.

  1. It’s funny how the Browns have one of the worst QB situations in the league yet all of their QB’s are better than Tebow. Tebow’s a class act, but he’s clearly not an NFL quarterback.

  2. Hoyer going down was really rotten luck for the Browns. Now lets just finish the season and hopefully go at least 8-8. That would be a huge improvement for Chud & Co. Then look for the draft and a top QB there. Actually any of the top six QB’s coming out would be better than Weeden and Campbell. Better days are ahead. We just stumbled on the way.

  3. As a Packers fan who would have to face the Browns at Lambeau next Sunday — all I can saw is “whew.”

  4. What ?! No Tebow?! I can’t believe the Jaguars haven’t signed Tebow and just let him play start the rest of the season?! Jacksonville would surely sell out the rest of their games with big Tim Tebow at the helm and at worst if he plays awful the Jags would still be able to draft #1 and get either Bridgewater or Mariotta in the 2014 draft! Pull the trigger and sign Tebow ….Jacksonville! Sell some tickets !

    Tebow! Tebow! Tebow!
    I can hear the chant now… 😃

  5. I doubt any team is gonna touch Tebow, the jets didn’t want him, patriots couldn’t do anything with him, the Browns don’t want him, and even his hometown don’t want him(they can make a pretty penny with him playing). The only thing that will stop these Tebow to (insert team name) articles would be for him to lose a limb but I could still see idiots out the who know nothing about football and just like the guy cause he’s a clean cut religious guy still lobbying to get him on their cities team .

  6. Ytownie…,stumbled along the way? Really? Factory of sadness must be giving out rose colored glasses. Guess the Zoloft is really kicking in.

  7. He made more money in a few short years being a substandard NFL QB than I’ll ever see in my lifetime……. So I’ll refrain from any anti-Tebow comments.

  8. Tebow love thes big city, big media markets and winning teams or big name teams..So, Cleveland?
Really? Its not going to happen and whoever leaked this is living in a fantasy world

  9. The Browns are actually pretty good now, and Tebow would just be a sideshow. If the Steelers were smart (and they’re not), they’d sign Tebow and put him at tackle, where he’d be an improvement over the journeymen they now have.

  10. As a Giants fan, I want him to paly for the Giants. The season is lost anyway and the O line is paper mache. Save Eli for next year when the O line can be rebuilt and allow Tebow to have his very own Book Of Job experience. Couple of weeks of David Diehl and company letting the entire defense through the moment the ball is snapped will introduce Timmy to some REAL suffering.

  11. As a life long Browns fan for over forty years I would love to see Tebow come in. Then again, I’d rather see Richard Simmons start at QB than “Rusty”. He is clueless!!!!!!!

    Unlike Cincinnati, the gateway to…..

    Kentucky!

  13. Despite Hoyer’s success, the Browns need to draft a QB. Hoyer could have been a two-game wonder. He also may not be the same coming off an ACL injury. Don’t miss out on a franchise QB while you have the chance. Hoyer could still provide as a solid backup and maybe even start awhile to mentor the new guy.

Funny how Tebow has had more success as a starting NFL QB than all of the Brown’s QB’s.

  15. I’m a fan of his, but Tebow Time has been over for a long time now. His stubbornness in wanting to be a QB may prevent him of ever wearing an NFL uniform again. Least he can still say he has more playoff wins in the last few seasons than Peyton Manning. For now, at least.

  16. No team will ever sign Tebow.

    Ever.

People need to come to grips with this. The only chance that he would ever be signed by another NFL team is if there was a team with all of the following conditions:

    1) A terrible record
    2) An awful QB depth chart
    3) A legitimate need to sell more tickets
    4) Had a new owner trying to make a splash
    5) Played it’s games in Tebow’s home town

Oh, wait! That team DOES exist! And even they want no part of him!

    It’s over. Seriously.

  17. With the way that Andy Dalton’s been playing, maybe the Ben-gals should look at Tebow.

Plus, think of the tickets Mike Brown could sell to the cross-burning snake worshipers across the river!

  18. Interesting how many of these coaches and team owners have a “vision” for their team that must not include WINNING. Tim Tebow has never…I repeat NEVER…started for a team that has anything less than a WINNING season at every level he has ever played and that includes in the NFL. How many starting quarterbacks in the NFL can make that claim? I rest my case.

  19. ‘A league source tells PFT that the Browns won’t be adding Tebow to a quarterback depth chart that is currently short on quarterback talent’

The Browns are already short on quarterback talent, adding Tebow would only reduce the talent level further.

For as great of a guy as he appears to be, he’s not an NFL quarterback. Yes, he had a winning record as a starter in Denver, he also had a stout defense and the top ranked rushing attack. Take those two aspects of the game away and put the game solely on his shoulders, and there’s no way that team wins 6 games.

And, by the way, ask any Broncos player from that 2011 team about Tebow in the locker room, away from the public eye and you’ll get a much different perception of how great of a guy he really isn’t.

  20. To Retired NFL Quarterback Tim Tebow, final record as starter 9 wins 6 losses and 1 playoff win and 1 playoff loss.

May your career Rest in Peace, I was entertained the 2 years you played for the Broncos.

    The End.
