Jets set to sign Josh Cribbs, finally

Joshua Cribbs, Danny McCray AP

After looking him over several times, the Jets have decided to go ahead and make a move to boost their return game.

A league source confirms to PFT the Jets are signing Joshua Cribbs.

Cribbs made the rounds this summer, trying to prove to teams he was well enough to play. If he is, the All-Decade return man could add an element the Jets have lacked.

With Clyde Gates banged up (shoulder), there could be an immediate opening for a kick returner. Although Gates has gotten better the last two weeks, he’s averaging 24.9 yards per return for the season.

He’ll have plenty of practice fielding touchbacks out the back of the endzone this Sunday.

I have never been a Josh Cribbs fan… but… he is a good special teamer.

$840,000 is the league minimum for a player of Josh Cribbs NFL experience.

Cribbs ability to shorten the field on kickoffs/punts might make his signing a good move for the money (since the Jets offense is mediocre at moving the ball – 16th in NFL in total yards).

Awesome move. The Jets are Gods team.

He’d make a great wildcat option / personal punt protector, too.

I guess the Skins have somebody better. Right.

big pickup for the Jets if he’s healthy….i wished they picked up Collie but no big deal….
Cribbs upgrades their kick/punt returning game and also upgrades them at WR….non guaranteed contract is the definition of a low risk high reward pick up….solid move

At this point, is an overweight and over-the-hill Josh Cribbs better than Joe McKnight, whom they released and is still a fa?

Still love you, Josh! Loved your ever present competitive spirit.

Hope you can still make some good things happen as a returner AND a gunner. Except when the Brownies are in town, that is . . .

sorry to ask but is he really the all decade return man?

Clyde Gates was no advert for the return game.
Please, we had him in Miami, and were pleased he went.

He has lost a step or the Raiders would’ve kept him around. Too much $ for not much ability anymore.

Seems like a good signing given their kick returner got injured and the free agents available.

Wrong, they live in the same building in the same part of New Jersey! Buffalo is New York’s only team!

I’d like him in Cleveland as a Special Teams coach. He was a great returner in his day, one of the best, and on kickoff coverages the dude was making nearly every tackle.

His skills aren’t up there anymore but he still knows the deal. Come back to Ohio and coach!

This is interesting seeing that they let McKnight go?
