Seahawks take a look at some familiar linebackers

Larry Grant AP

The Seahawks started K.J. Wright in the middle Sunday in the absence of Bobby Wagner, who was inactive because of a high ankle sprain.

But they’re looking for some reinforcements, and turned to the usual suspects for a tryout.

According to Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com, the Seahawks worked out four linebackers: Tyrone McKenzie, Larry Grant, Josh Hull and Tavares Gooden.

Gooden and Grant are former 49ers, which fits with the pattern of intramural poaching the two have established.

But Grant’s interesting because he’s now back on the market, after a four-game suspension for violating the league’s performance-enhancing substance policy. He denied knowingly taking a PED.

He had worked out for a few teams this offseason but was not signed, but is now available to anyone with his suspension served, so the Seahawks kicked the tires.

personally i would sign josh hull. fantastic backer. if they didnt have james laurinaitis, he would still be with the rams and probably starting.

Seattle is obsessed by ex 49er players and steroids. Now with Grant they can get both!!!

Grant is a good player and hopefully he was good not because of roids.

Grant will fit right in with the Hawks.

Forgive me if I’m wrong, but doesn’t Grant have to be on an active roster before he can serve his 4 game suspension? As far as I know he has been unsigned since he was handed down the suspension.

Seattle is obsessed with being the best. Keep hating though.

Urlacher. It’s better than having to listen to him on Fox Sports 1.

There were a few releases this off-season that had me scratching my head. Allen Bradford was one of them. They spent 2 years getting a guy to convert from HB to MLB and looked like one of of better linebackers in pre-season.

Now Wagner is hurt and we’re looking at old guys off the street to for depth. The other one is 3rd TE Sean McGrath who is doing well in KC and when he was here even though he was slow he blocked well and caught everything.

49er fans try clown Seattle PED, didn’t they just pick up two players suspended for PED the last 3 or 4 weeks and Larry Grant got caught for it with their team. Now where’s the joke?

do any of you forget 9ers signed 3 Seattle receivers after we released them? call it both ways fellas even though San Fran released them too. we don’t need that “edge” to beat San Fran…clearly

Perhaps if your coach, and front office could could evaluate receivers instead of drafting busts you would sign all ours!

Seattle are garbage pickers. End of story.

Pretty sure “being the best” requires actually winning something. Keep being a turd.

Grant played well in Willis absence last year. It still amazes me how many of these guys go with the “i took a supplement” card when caught dirty. Though with that kinda money at stake its hard to take the moral high ground unless you been in that position

Yeah, the 49ers were the best… 20 years ago.

The Seahawks have NEVER been the best, that is true. But let’s be honest, the 49ers are far from their glory days.

Also, all your bragging about rings makes you seem like the Steelers. Do you really want to be like the Steelers? 49ers have more class than the Steelers. Oh, that’s right, I’m a Seahawks fan and as such I am not aloud to talk about class. Sorry. My bad.

    Go Hawks!

I agree with you about the ring bs. Of course I’ve watched every 49er Super Bowl and saw one live. Though technically I dont have a superbowl ring either so that line of chit talking seems a lil silly to me

Recently they released rookie LB John Lotulelei. Bet they wish they had kept him.

Again, they haven’t won anything recently or in their history. The Seahawks are a good team, but haven’t achieved anything.

That’s why all of this bragging about being the best is hilarious. Bunch of chumps

To 49er fans that bring up the championships of 20 years ago. Did you watch the game? Remember how it felt when your team won and the exact place you were when it happened? If you did that’s great but you are too damn old to be trash talking like a punk on a football forum.

The rest of you bandwagon fans need to understand up until 3 years ago your team was the bottom feeder of the NFC West. Cards, Hawks, Rams all have had a better histories this past decade. The division is starting to look like the toughest in NFL after a slow start.
